Wayanad Tour Packages

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Wayanad tour packages run 3 to 10 days. Short Wayanad-only trips start near ₹4,479 per person (standard tier price), while longer circuits that add Kannur, Bekal, Munnar or a houseboat run up to about ₹13,999. Every package here is quoted at its standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers available for the same route. Price moves with nights, hotel category, meal plan and how many destinations you pair with Wayanad. (Prices as of August 2026.) Before you compare tabs, one fact changes how you plan this trip. Wayanad is not close to Kochi. It is about 280 km and a 6.5 to 7 hour climb over the Thamarassery Ghat. Calicut airport sits only about 90 km away. If you are flying, fly into Calicut, not Kochi, or you lose most of two days to the road.

What Do Wayanad Tour Packages Cost?

Wayanad packages start at ₹4,479 per person (standard tier price) for a 2 night road trip and reach about ₹13,999 for a 9 night circuit with a houseboat. Rates are per person on twin sharing, room with breakfast, land only, as of August 2026.

Pick by the nights you have and how far you want to range. Wayanad on its own needs two to three nights. Pairing it with the coast or the southern hills needs five or more.

Wayanad Tour Itinerary, Day by Day (The Recommended 3 Night Trip)

This is the Wayanad Treehouse and Waterfalls package, 3 nights and 4 days, from ₹4,997 per person (standard tier price). It covers the caves, the falls, a Chembra trek and Banasura without moving hotels.

Day 1: Climbing to Wayanad on the Thamarassery Ghat

Airport pickup, the climb up the Thamarassery ghat, check in to a treehouse or private-pool cottage, and an evening bonfire where the property allows it. The high point is the valley opening up at Lakkidi after the ninth hairpin bend.

Day 2: Chembra Peak base trail and Soochipara falls

Soochipara waterfalls, a Pookode Lake pedal boat, the Chembra Peak base and the heart-shaped lake trail, then sunset at Lakkidi viewpoint. The Chembra forest permit is paid direct and a daily quota applies, so the trail runs weather and permits allowing.

Day 3: Edakkal Caves, Banasura and Karlad Lake

Edakkal Caves, the Banasura Sagar Dam speedboat ride between the reservoir islands, and a Karlad Lake zipline or kayaking, with a candlelight dinner to close. The rock carvings inside Edakkal were cut into the stone thousands of years before anything else you will see on this trip.

Day 4: Departure

A slow morning at the resort, then the drop. No early checkout rush.

Ready To Lock These Dates?

Send us your travel dates and group size on WhatsApp or the enquiry form. Our Kerala team calls you, sends the full day-by-day plan with the exact price, and swaps hotels or nights until it fits. A 50 percent advance holds the rooms and the cab.

North Kerala With Wayanad, A 6 Day Itinerary Day By Day

This is the North Kerala Discovery package, 5 nights and 6 days, from ₹6,981 per person (standard tier price). It pairs Wayanad with Kannur and the Bekal coast, an offbeat route most agencies skip.

Day 1: Climbing to Wayanad on the Thamarassery Ghat. Pickup, the ghat climb, a Lakkidi viewpoint halt and Wayanad check-in.

Day 2: Wayanad's caves, waterfalls and Banasura. Edakkal Caves, Soochipara waterfalls, Banasura Sagar Dam and Pookode Lake in a full day.

Day 3: Kannur, fort, beach, handlooms and Theyyam. Drive to Kannur for St Angelo Fort, Payyambalam Beach, the handloom weaving centres, and a Theyyam performance if the shrine calendar allows. Theyyam is ritual rather than performance, and unforgettable when you catch it. The season generally runs December to April.

Day 4: Bekal Fort and the Kasaragod coast. Drive to Bekal, Bekal Fort at sunset and Kappil Beach. The fort is a 300 year old laterite headland with the Arabian Sea on three sides.

Day 5: Valiyaparamba backwater cruise. A Ranipuram or Valiyaparamba backwater cruise, then Nileshwar and Bekal beach time. This backwater is fed by four rivers and stays quiet.

Day 6: Departure. Drop at Mangalore or Kannur.

Plan a Custom Wayanad Route

Not every trip fits a fixed package. Tell our on-ground team what you want to see and how long you have, and we build the route around it, including the airport you fly into. Message us on WhatsApp to start.

A Note : We keep safaris and forest permits out of the fixed price on purpose. Muthanga and Tholpetty run on forest-department quotas and timings that change, and Chembra has a daily cap, so we book these on the ground and tell you the real cost rather than pad the headline rate.

What Is Included, And What Is Not?

Every package covers your stay on breakfast, a private AC car with a local driver, entry tickets for the named sights, and airport or station transfers. Safaris, permits and meals beyond breakfast are not included.

Included

  • Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing, room with daily breakfast
  • Private AC vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing in the itinerary
  • Local driver-cum-guide who knows the ghat routes
  • Fuel, toll, parking, inter-state permit and driver allowance
  • Entry tickets as per itinerary
  • Airport or railway station pickup and drop
  • 24x7 on-ground help from the trip2keralam team in Kerala

Not included

  • Air and rail fare
  • Lunch and dinner, except a houseboat night where full board is stated
  • Wildlife safaris at Muthanga or Tholpetty, the Chembra forest permit, bamboo rafting and adventure activities, unless named in your day plan
  • Ayurveda and spa, camera fees, tips and personal spends
  • GST as applicable on tour packages
  • On couple packages, room decoration, a welcome cake or fruit basket and one candlelight dinner (unless requested)
  • Anything not listed under inclusions

Why Book Your Wayanad Tour Package With trip2keralam

We are a Kerala-based team that runs these routes ourselves, so the plan matches how Wayanad actually travels.

We book the resorts ourselves

We book the Vythiri and Meppadi treehouses and plantation stay ourselves, so we know which cottages face the valley, which pools are heated for cold nights, and which properties oversell their rating. You get an honest match to your budget, not a stock listing.

We tell you which airport actually saves time

Most listings quietly assume Kochi. We book you into Calicut, about 90 km out, or Kannur for the northern side, because the Kochi road adds close to seven hours each way. That single call can save you a full day.

Safaris and permits handled on the ground, not oversold

Chembra runs on a daily quota and the sanctuary safaris on forest-department slots. We hold these where we can and warn you when a date is tight, so a closed gate does not wreck your itinerary.

Honest trade-offs before you pay

If a route has an eight-hour transfer or a season works against you, we say so before booking. We would rather lose a booking than put a family with toddlers on the Thekkady to Wayanad leg.

One coordinator for the whole trip

Your driver meets you at the airport and a single coordinator stays reachable start to finish. If a shrine festival closes a road or a resort overbooks, one person fixes it, not a call centre.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Wayanad?

The best time to visit Wayanad is October to May, with November to February the coolest and clearest. Monsoon, June to September, brings the fullest waterfalls but the trickiest roads. (Season notes as of September 2026.)

  • Winter (November to February): Roughly 15C to 25C, the coolest and clearest window. Prime for treks, safaris and viewpoints.
  • Summer (March to May): Warmer, but greener and cooler than most of South India, with smaller crowds. Good for plantation walks and sightseeing.
  • Monsoon (June to September): The fullest waterfalls at Soochipara and Meenmutty and a deep green plateau, but the Thamarassery Ghat turns slow and slippery and hill sections above Meppadi are landslide-prone.
  • If you travel in the rains: Keep the plan flexible and carry travel insurance.

How Many Days Do You Need In Wayanad?

Two nights covers the headline sights. Three nights is the honest minimum for a Chembra trek, a treehouse stay and the waterfalls without rushing.

A 2 night, 3 day trip fits Edakkal Caves, Soochipara falls, Pookode Lake and Banasura Sagar Dam at a steady pace. Add a night and you get Chembra Peak's heart-shaped lake trail, a slower morning at a treehouse or pool cottage, and time for Kuruva Island or a zipline. Beyond three nights, Wayanad usually becomes the opening leg of a longer route: north to Kannur and Bekal, west to Kozhikode for the food, or south to Munnar and Thekkady for a full hills-and-wildlife loop.

How Do You Reach Wayanad, And How Far Is It From Kochi?

Wayanad has no airport or railway of its own. The nearest airport is Calicut, about 90 km away, and the nearest big railhead is Kozhikode, about 85 km. From Kochi it is a 6.5 to 7 hour drive.

By air, Calicut International Airport is roughly 2.5 to 3 hours from Kalpetta. Kannur International Airport is a good alternative for northern Wayanad, roughly 60 to 90 km depending on where you stay. By train, Kozhikode station connects the coast, then it is a 2.5 hour climb up the ghat. By road, the classic approach is the Thamarassery Churam with its nine hairpin bends, and from Bangalore or Mysore the Gundlupet and Sulthan Bathery route via NH766.

Is Wayanad Good For A Family Or Honeymoon Trip?

Yes to both, for different reasons. Families get caves, boats, ziplines and safaris that suit school-age children. Couples get treehouses, quiet plantations and the Chembra trek.

For families, a three-night base in one property beats hotel-hopping, and Pookode Lake, Karlad Lake and Edakkal Caves keep older children busy. For honeymooners, the treehouse and private-pool cottage packages come with room decoration and a candlelight dinner, and Wayanad stays quieter than the beach towns. Toddlers and very long transfer days do not mix, so we steer young families away from the wider hill-and-wildlife loops.

How Do Booking And Cancellation Work?

Booking takes a 50 percent advance to hold your hotels and cab, with the balance before or on arrival. Changes need 30 days' written notice. Inside 30 days, the package amount is retained in full.

How booking works

  • Enquire by form or WhatsApp with a package, or a description of the trip you want.
  • Our Kerala team calls you, then sends a full day-by-day itinerary with the exact price.
  • You swap hotels, places or nights until the plan fits.
  • A 50 percent advance confirms the booking and locks the hotels, houseboat and cab.
  • The balance is due before departure or on arrival, paid by bank wire transfer.
  • Your driver meets you at the airport or station, and a coordinator stays reachable through the trip.

Cancellation

  • Changes and cancellations must reach us in writing at least 30 days before check-in, and stay subject to hotel and houseboat availability.
  • Inside 30 days, no amendment, postponement or cancellation is possible, and the full package value is retained.
  • Bookings travelling between 20 December and 5 January are non-refundable, because hotels and houseboats charge peak rates under their own no-refund terms.
  • No refund applies to no-shows, unused nights or an early checkout.
  • Houseboat, hotel and activity components follow the operator's own cancellation rules in peak season.
  • For monsoon travel between June and September, travel insurance is recommended and hill-road conditions are monitored.

Wayanad Tour Package FAQs

Is 2 nights enough for Wayanad?

Two nights covers the core: Edakkal Caves, Soochipara falls, Pookode Lake and Banasura Sagar Dam at a comfortable pace. It does not leave room for the Chembra Peak trek, a safari and a slow treehouse morning as well. If you want those too, book three nights. Two nights works best when Wayanad is a weekend break rather than your whole holiday.

How much does a Wayanad package cost per person?
A 2 night Wayanad trip starts near ₹4,479 per person (standard tier price) on twin sharing, room with breakfast, land only, as of August 2026. A 3 night treehouse trip runs about ₹4,997, and longer circuits pairing Wayanad with Kannur, Bekal or Munnar reach ₹6,981 to ₹13,999. All figures are standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers quoted higher. Air and rail fare, safaris and lunches sit outside these rates.
Should I fly into Kochi or Calicut for Wayanad?
Fly into Calicut. It is about 90 km and 2.5 to 3 hours from Kalpetta, while Kochi is around 280 km and close to 7 hours over the ghat. For northern Wayanad, Kannur airport can be closer still. Booking the wrong airport can cost you a full day of a short trip, so we confirm the airport before ticketing.
Is Wayanad worth visiting in the monsoon?
It depends on what you want. June to September gives you the fullest waterfalls, deep green plateau and the fewest crowds. The trade-off is the Thamarassery Ghat, which turns slow and slippery, and hill sections above Meppadi that are landslide-prone. Photographers and slow travellers love it. If you have young children or a tight plan, the drier months are safer.
Are Wayanad safaris included in the package?
No. Muthanga and Tholpetty jeep safaris run on forest-department quotas and timings that change, and the Chembra trek needs a permit with a daily cap. We keep these out of the fixed price and book them on the ground so you pay the real, current rate. We tell you upfront when a date is tight or a gate may be closed.
How many days do I need to combine Wayanad with other places?

Plan five nights or more. Wayanad with Kannur and Bekal works in 5 to 6 nights. Wayanad with Munnar and Thekkady needs 6 to 7 because the hill-to-hill transfers are long, one close to eight hours. Adding a houseboat or a beach at the end pushes it to 8 or 9 nights. Below five nights, keep it to Wayanad alone.

Is Wayanad good for a honeymoon?

Yes. Wayanad stays quieter than Kerala's beach towns, and the treehouse and private-pool cottage stays are built for couples. Our 3 night package adds room decoration and a candlelight dinner, with the Chembra base trail and Banasura speedboat for the daytime. Book November to February for the clearest weather and the coolest evenings.

Can I customize a package or change the hotels?
Yes. Every package is a starting point. After you enquire, our team sends a full itinerary with the exact price, and you swap hotels, add or drop nights, change the resort category or re-sequence the days until it fits. The price is re-quoted for the hotel category you finally confirm, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
What is the best time for Wayanad's waterfalls?

August to November is best for the falls. The rains fill Soochipara, Meenmutty and the rivers, and the plateau is at its greenest. Note that heavy-rain days can close trekking trails and slow the ghat, so pair a monsoon waterfall trip with flexible plans. By February the smaller falls thin out, though Soochipara holds water longer.

Do I need a private car, or can I self-drive Wayanad?
A package car with a local driver is the easier choice. The Thamarassery Ghat has nine tight hairpins, forest stretches restrict night driving because of wildlife, and sightseeing points are spread across the plateau. Our drivers know the closures, the safari timings and the shortcuts. Self-drive is possible, but you lose time to navigation and parking that a local driver saves.
