Kerala Tour Packages for 6 Days

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Our Kerala tour packages for 6 days start from Rs. 6,499 per person and run to about Rs. 7,999, five nights across the tea hills, spice country and backwaters, with a beach or an island finish on some routes. Six days is where the classic circuit stops being a compromise. Best value falls October to March.

Price is usually the first thing people compare, so we will start there. A 6 day Kerala trip with us runs from Rs. 6,499 per person for the all hills highland route up to Rs. 7,999 for the Kumarakom and Varkala backwater and beach route, all on twin sharing, land only. Where you land in that band depends on the route you pick and how you like to stay, not on hidden extras bolted on later.

What the sixth night buys you is room to breathe. On a four or five day trip you are choosing what to leave out. Six days lets you fold Thekkady's spice hills and the Periyar cruise into the Munnar and Alleppey run, and still open Day 1 with a Fort Kochi walk instead of a drive straight off your flight.

It also opens up routes a shorter trip cannot reach. A beach finish at Kovalam or Varkala. Two nights on a Poovar island resort with no road in. The quiet north, where Bekal Fort sits out in the Arabian Sea and the Valiyaparamba backwater carries a fraction of the boats you see at Alleppey.

We run eight different 5N/6D routes, and every one below is handled end to end by our on-ground team in Kerala, from the airport pickup to the houseboat crew. This page lays out all eight so you can pick the trip before you enquire.

Which Kerala tour packages for 6 days do we run?

Short answer: Pick by what kind of trip you want, not by the day count. Below are all routes, grouped by who they suit. Every price is per person on twin sharing, land only, on bed and breakfast, as of September 2026 and subject to approval. Houseboat nights are full board. Peak dates cost more.

The full classic circuit

The Kerala Golden Circuit is the one we suggest most for a first visit. A Fort Kochi arrival night, two nights in Munnar for the tea estates, one at Thekkady for the spice walk and the Periyar cruise, then a full houseboat night at Alleppey, ending back at Kochi. It is the standard Kerala route done properly rather than compressed, and the added night is what keeps it comfortable.

The same circuit, at a family pace

The Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey Family Holiday runs the same four places with the pace built around children and grandparents. No drive between stops runs longer than about four hours, Munnar is a two-night base so you unpack once, and the days lean on boating, a museum demonstration and an elephant interaction option rather than hard climbs.

All hills, and the lowest price of the eight

The Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Trail is the cheapest of the eight, from Rs. 6,499, because it carries no houseboat night. Instead you get three hill destinations across Idukki district with no repeated scenery, including Vagamon's pine meadows and the Peermade tea belt that most operators drive straight past. It can drop you at Madurai, since Thekkady sits near the Tamil Nadu border.

Waterfalls, hills and backwaters

The Kochi, Athirappilly, Munnar and Alleppey Nature Loop adds Kerala's largest waterfall to the mix. A Fort Kochi night, a riverside night at Athirappilly so you reach the falls before the day crowd, two nights at Munnar and a houseboat night, opening and closing at Kochi so flights stay simple.

Backwaters, beach and wellness

The Kumarakom and Varkala route pairs two quiet nights of birding on Vembanad Lake with a houseboat night and two nights on the Varkala cliff, with morning yoga and an Ayurveda session. No hill station, no long drives, and it finishes at Trivandrum. Best for birds from November to March.

The quiet north, off the usual trail

The North Kerala Discovery route skips the southern circuit entirely. Two nights in the Wayanad hills for the Edakkal Caves and Soochipara falls, a Kannur night for the fort, the handloom centres and Theyyam when the shrine calendar allows, then two nights at Bekal for the sea fort and the Valiyaparamba backwater. It starts from Kozhikode or Kannur and can finish at Mangalore.

Two ways to do a honeymoon

The Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey and Kovalam Romance covers four settings, hills, spice, a private premium houseboat on Vembanad Lake, and a Kovalam beach finish, with honeymoon rooms, a candlelight dinner and an optional couple Ayurveda massage available on request. If you would rather slow right down, the Tea Hills, Houseboat and Poovar Island route trades a fourth destination for two full nights on a Poovar island resort reached only by boat. Both end at Trivandrum.

How a 6 day Kerala trip actually unfolds, day by day

Day 1: Fort Kochi, and no driving off your flight

Pickup at Cochin airport or the railway station and a short transfer to your Fort Kochi hotel. This is the whole point of the sixth night. Most flights land through the day, and starting with a Kochi night means Day 1 is a walk rather than four hours in a car.

The walk covers the Chinese fishing nets, worked by hand at the water's edge, St Francis Church and Mattancherry Palace, which is closed on Fridays. An evening Kathakali show is optional and payable directly by you.

Overnight: Fort Kochi hotel, room with breakfast.

Day 2: Up to Munnar through the waterfall country

The climb to Munnar runs past the Cheeyappara and Valara falls, where the road sits right beside the water, so the drive earns its own stops rather than being dead time. The afternoon goes to the Pothamedu viewpoint over the tea slopes. Check in for two nights.

Overnight: Munnar, hill resort or hotel, room with breakfast.

Day 3: The full Munnar sightseeing day

A whole day in the tea hills from a single base, so no packing up. Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, the Tata Tea Museum with its working demonstration of how a green leaf becomes the powder in your cup, and Photo Point. We aim for Top Station early, before the late-morning mist rolls in and takes the view with it.

Overnight: Munnar again, the second night in the same hotel.

Day 4: Across to Thekkady and the spice hills

A drive across the cardamom country to Thekkady, then a guided spice plantation walk at Kumily, where a cardamom pod cracked open on the spot smells almost citrusy. An evening Kathakali and Kalaripayattu show is optional. Night at Thekkady.

Overnight: Thekkady, resort or hotel, room with breakfast.

Day 5: The Periyar cruise, then onto the houseboat

An early Periyar Lake cruise, which we pre-book because the boat seats are limited and go quickly, then the drive down to Alleppey. You board the houseboat around midday, which is what gives you the full afternoon on the water, the sunset and dinner cooked on board. The boat drifts through the Kuttanad canals and anchors for the night.

Overnight: Houseboat on the Alleppey backwaters, full board from lunch onward.

Day 6: Breakfast on the water, then the drive back

Breakfast is cooked and served as the boat moves, and you step off once it is done. The run from Alleppey back up to Kochi is an easy one, straight to your airport or station. No early checkout scramble.

Trip ends: back at Kochi airport (COK) or Ernakulam station.

The other seven routes run to the same six-day shape with different stops. The Nature Loop spends its second night beside the Athirappilly falls before turning up to Munnar. The highland route swaps the houseboat for a night at Vagamon and a second at Thekkady. The honeymoon routes finish at Kovalam or on the Poovar island, and the north route runs Wayanad to Kannur to Bekal. Each route's own page carries its full day-by-day plan.

Like the look of one of these? Tell us your dates and we will hold the hotels and the houseboat on your nights, then send the full day-by-day plan and price.

What's in the price, and what isn't

Every route shares the same core. The main variable is whether your route carries a houseboat night, which is always quoted on full board. We put the exclusions in plain sight on purpose. The package that buries its exclusions is the one that turns into a row when the final bill lands.

Included on every 6 day package

  • Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing, bed and breakfast: your room plus daily breakfast
  • Where the route has one, a full-board houseboat night: welcome drink, lunch, evening tea with snacks, dinner and next-morning breakfast, all cooked on board
  • A private air-conditioned vehicle for every transfer and all sightseeing on the itinerary
  • An experienced local driver cum guide who knows the routes
  • All fuel, toll, parking, the inter-state permit and the driver allowance
  • Airport or railway station pickup and drop
  • Entry tickets
  • 24x7 on-ground assistance from the trip2keralam team in Kerala

Not included

  • Air and rail fare
  • Lunch and dinner on the land nights, except where a houseboat full-board night is stated
  • Anything not named in the day-by-day plan, including wildlife safaris, bamboo rafting and adventure activities
  • Ayurveda treatments and spa unless listed for the route, camera fees, tips and personal expenses
  • On the wellness route, any Panchakarma or multi-day Ayurveda programme, quoted separately
  • GST as applicable on tour packages

What you will pay for six days, and what moves it

Our 5N/6D packages run from Rs. 6,499 to Rs. 7,999 per person on the Standard tier, on twin sharing, land only, on bed and breakfast, as of September 2026 and subject to approval. Every route also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers, priced higher for better hotels and a private houseboat. Each figure is a from-price, a floor to build on rather than a fixed rate.

Here is how the tiers price on our most-booked route, the Kerala Golden Circuit:

TierFrom (per person)What you get
StandardRs. 7,991Comfortable hotels and a deluxe houseboat, on bed and breakfast
DeluxeRs. 8,929Upgraded hotels and a better class of houseboat
PremiumRs. 9,469Premium hotels and a premium houseboat, prime rooms
LuxuryRs. 9,995Luxury or boutique stays and a private luxury houseboat

What moves the number: your tier, Standard, Deluxe, Premium or Luxury, each a step up in hotel and houseboat class. Your meal plan, from bed and breakfast to breakfast plus dinner or all meals. The houseboat type, a shared deluxe boat versus a private premium one. Your group size and any children's ages. And the date. Rates step up over 20 December to 5 January, and around Onam, Christmas and New Year. Add flights or trains and the total rises, since the quoted price is land only.

We give you the exact figure with your quote, once we have your dates, your tier and how many are travelling. Send us those and we will come back with the per-person price for the route and tier you want.

Which months suit a 6-day Kerala trip?

October to March is the clear pick. Dry, settled weather, calm backwaters, clear Munnar mornings before the mist sets in, and easy ghat roads.

This is also the busiest window, so expect peak-date rates and stricter hotel cancellation terms around Christmas, New Year and Onam.

April and May are hot and humid on the coast, but Munnar, Vagamon and Wayanad stay pleasant at altitude, so a hills route still works well.

The southwest monsoon (June to September) is green, quiet and cheaper, though houseboat cruising can be cut short on rough days and the path to the base of Athirappilly is often shut when the river runs high.

Two routes follow their own calendars. Birds at Kumarakom are best from November to March, and Theyyam in the north runs roughly December to April, on each shrine's own dates.

Which airport, and where each route begins and ends

Most of the six-day routes start at Cochin airport (COK), the practical base for Munnar, Thekkady, Athirappilly, Kumarakom and Alleppey. The north Kerala route starts from Kozhikode or Kannur instead, since Wayanad has no airport of its own and you drive up the Thamarassery ghat with its hairpin bends.

Where a route begins and ends is worth planning around, because several do not finish where they start. The Kovalam, Varkala and Poovar routes end at Trivandrum (TRV), so an open-jaw flight, into Kochi and out of Trivandrum, saves you a full day of backtracking and usually costs about the same. The Highland Trail can drop you at Madurai, and the north route at Mangalore, since both finish near a state border. We flag the right flight plan before you book, not after.

Pickup and drop at the airport or railway station are included on every package, and the same private car stays with you for the whole trip.

The practical things to settle before you book

Houseboat timings

On the backwater routes you board around midday and the boat moors for the night, it does not cruise in the dark. Your last morning's breakfast is cooked on board before you step off. Decks are open with low railings, so we arrange life jackets and ask that small children are not left on deck unsupervised.

Not every route has a houseboat

The Highland Trail and the North Kerala route carry no houseboat night at all, which is part of why they price differently. If a houseboat is the reason you are coming, pick one of the circuit or backwater routes.

Open-jaw flights on the southern finishes

The Kovalam, Varkala and Poovar routes end at Trivandrum. Book your return from there rather than Kochi, or you lose a day driving back up.

Seasonal calls we cannot promise

Access to the base of Athirappilly depends on the river level and the forest department. Periyar cruise seats are limited and sometimes ID-linked. Theyyam follows each shrine's own calendar. We check all three against your dates and tell you straight rather than promise something the day may not allow.

Poovar runs on ferry timings

The island resorts are reached only by boat on fixed crossings, so Day 4 is built to get you there in good time. The earlier we have your arrival details, the cleaner that day gets.

Suitability

For young children and older parents, the family circuit is the gentlest, with no drive over about four hours and no hard climbs. Pack light layers for Munnar, Vagamon and Wayanad, where December and January evenings turn cold.

Your vehicle

The private car is provided as per the itinerary, for your transfers and planned sightseeing, not on disposal for unplanned running through the day.

Why plan your 6 day Kerala trip with trip2keralam

We are based in Kerala and handle these trips end to end, so the person who plans your route is the same one you can call while you are on the road. On a six-day trip that spans hills, backwaters and often a beach, that continuity is what keeps the plan intact when a road, a ferry or the weather does something unexpected.

Local team, one point of contact

Every trip is run from here on the ground, not from a call centre in another state, and you deal with the same team from quote to drop-off.

We build the arrival night in

On the six-day routes we start you with a Kochi or Wayanad night, so nobody drives straight to the hills off a flight. It is the single biggest comfort the sixth night buys, and the part shorter trips skip.

Open-jaw flights, flagged early

For the Kovalam, Varkala and Poovar finishes we tell you to fly out of Trivandrum before you book, so you do not waste a day driving back to Kochi.

Direct houseboat and resort relationships

We work with the operators here directly, so we know which boats suit a family and which are worth the premium for a couple, and which resorts actually deliver a honeymoon inclusion rather than list one.

Honest about what is not guaranteed

We tell you upfront when something depends on the day, the Athirappilly base access, a Periyar seat, a Theyyam date, rather than after you have paid.

A firm quote before you commit

You get a written quote with the room category and meal plan spelled out, and 24x7 on-ground assistance for the length of the trip, from a team that is actually in the state.

Booking and payment

50% of the package amount confirms the booking, and the balance is due before departure or on arrival. Payment is by bank wire transfer to our account, and confirmation follows once we receive it.

Confirmed dates may be changed, shortened or cancelled with 30 days' written notice, subject to availability. Inside 30 days the package amount is retained in full, no-shows are not eligible for a refund, and there is no credit for unused nights or an early departure. Peak-date bookings around 20 December to 5 January may carry stricter hotel cancellation terms, which we confirm in writing at the time of booking.

Is six days the right length for you?

If your dates are tighter, a 5 day Kerala package still covers the core circuit of Munnar, Thekkady and an Alleppey houseboat, just without the Fort Kochi arrival night to cushion the first day. If you can spare one more night, a 7 day Kerala package lets you add a beach or a wildlife leg on top of the full circuit without cutting anything short, and it is the more comfortable length if you want the hills and the backwaters and the coast in one trip. Our Kerala tour packages hub sets every duration side by side if you want to weigh them up.

Kerala 6 day packages: FAQs

Is 6 days enough to see Kerala properly?

For the full southern circuit or the offbeat north, yes. Six days is five nights, enough to pair the tea hills and spice country with a backwater houseboat and still open with a Fort Kochi day, or to spend the whole trip in the quiet north. What it will not do is cover the entire state end to end. Pick one region and do it without rushing.

Which is the cheapest 6 day Kerala package?
The Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Trail, from Rs. 6,499 per person on twin sharing, land only, as of September 2026. It prices lowest because it carries no houseboat night, which is the single biggest line item in most Kerala packages. You get three hill destinations instead. Peak-date travel is dearer, and GST and any flights sit on top of the figure.
Does every 6 day route include a houseboat night?
No. Six of the eight routes include a full-board houseboat night on the Alleppey or Kuttanad backwaters. The Highland Trail and the North Kerala Discovery route do not, on purpose, since one stays in the hills and the other explores the northern coast. If a houseboat is the reason you are coming, choose one of the circuit or backwater routes.
Can I finish a 6 day Kerala trip on a beach?
Yes. The Kovalam Romance route ends with a night by the Arabian Sea, the Kumarakom and Varkala route finishes on the Varkala cliff, and the Poovar route puts you on an island resort where the river, the backwater and the sea meet. All three end at Trivandrum, so book your flight out from there.
Should we fly into Kochi and out of Trivandrum?
For the Kovalam, Varkala and Poovar routes, yes, and it is worth sorting before you book flights. Those routes run north to south and end near Trivandrum, so a return ticket into Kochi means driving all the way back up. An open-jaw booking saves a full day and usually costs about the same. The circuit routes that end at Kochi do not need this.
Which 6 day route works best for a honeymoon?
Two are built for it. The Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey and Kovalam Romance gives you four settings, a private premium houseboat and a beach finish, with honeymoon rooms and a couple Ayurveda massage included. The Poovar island route slows right down to three destinations and two nights on an island resort with no road in. Some resorts ask for a marriage certificate for honeymoon inclusions, which we confirm at booking.
Can we see north Kerala instead of the usual circuit in 6 days?
Yes, and it is the reason to come if you have already done Munnar and Alleppey. The North Kerala Discovery route covers Wayanad's caves and waterfalls, Kannur's fort and handlooms, and Bekal Fort with the Valiyaparamba backwater, which carries a fraction of the boats you see at Alleppey. It starts from Kozhikode or Kannur and can finish at Mangalore.
Is a 6 day trip too much driving for older parents and young children?
Not if you pick the right route. The Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey Family Holiday keeps every drive to about four hours or less, uses a two-night Munnar base so you unpack once, and leans on boating and short walks rather than climbs. Day 1 is a Kochi night, so nobody drives on their arrival day. Tell us the ages and we will steer you to the gentlest plan.
