Kerala Honeymoon Packages

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Our standard Kerala honeymoon packages with trip2keralam start from Rs.5,485 (3N/4D) per person on twin sharing, land only, and run through four settings that suit a first trip together: the Munnar tea hills, the spice country around Thekkady, a private houseboat on the Alleppey backwaters, and a beach to finish at Kovalam. Rates are as of August 2026 and subject to approval.

Most couples we plan for want the same shape of trip. A couple of cold estate evenings up in the hills, one slow night on the water with the boat to yourselves, and a beach at the end where nobody has to be anywhere. What changes from couple to couple is how many days you have and where you start.

The routes below run from a long weekend to a slow ten days. Same romantic spine, different lengths, so you can match the trip to the leave you actually have rather than stretching or cutting a good itinerary to fit. Each one is a real package our Kerala team runs, priced from our current rate sheet, not a sample.

One thing worth deciding early, before you book flights: the longer routes end at Kovalam in the south. Flying into Kochi and out of Trivandrum saves you a full day of driving back north and usually costs about the same. We tell couples this before they book their tickets, which is not always when they hear it.

Our pick for most honeymooners is the 5 nights and 6 days Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey and Kovalam Romance at Rs.7,231 per person (standard). It is the shortest route that still gives you the whole honeymoon arc, tea hills, spice country, a private houseboat and a beach at the end, without the pace ever tipping into a coach tour. You lose nothing that matters and you gain a Kovalam sunset to close the trip.

The recommended 5N/6D route, day by day

Drive times below are approximate for the current roads.

Day 1: Kochi to Munnar, through the waterfall country

Private pickup at Kochi airport or station and the drive up to Munnar, about four hours, along the Cheeyappara and Valara falls stretch where the road runs right past the water. Check into the honeymoon room. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 2: An unhurried day in the tea hills

An early shikara ride on Kundala Lake, before the day buses arrive, then Echo Point and Top Station and a private walk through a working tea estate. An optional candlelight dinner in the evening, payable directly. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3: Into the spice hills at Thekkady

The drive to Thekkady takes about three hours through the cardamom country. A guided spice plantation walk, a couple Ayurveda massage, and an evening Kalari or cultural show. Overnight in Thekkady.

Day 4: A private houseboat on Vembanad Lake

An early Periyar Lake cruise, then the drive to Alleppey, roughly four hours, to board your private premium houseboat around midday. A sunset cruise and dinner served on the upper deck as the boat sits anchored, with all meals cooked on board. Overnight on the houseboat.

Day 5: Off the water and down to the coast

Breakfast on the boat, then disembark and drive south to Kovalam, about four hours. Sunset at Lighthouse Beach and a seafood dinner by the sea. Overnight in Kovalam.

Day 6: A slow last morning, then home

Time at the beach with no early checkout rush, then the drop to Trivandrum airport or station for your flight out.

Why Choose Kerala for your Honeymoon?

  • You get four completely different settings in one short trip. Hills, spice plantations, backwaters and a beach sit within a few hours of each other, so a five or six day honeymoon can hold all of them without long travel days between.
  • The distances are short. Kochi to Munnar is roughly four hours, Munnar to Thekkady about three, and the whole north-to-south run finishes at a beach. You spend the trip together, not stuck on a highway.
  • A private houseboat is genuinely private. On the Alleppey backwaters the boat is yours for the night, with a sunset cruise and dinner cooked on board, which is a hard thing to match at this price anywhere else in India.
  • Kerala is the home of Ayurveda, so a couple massage is a real treatment done well, not a hotel add-on. A session at Thekkady fits neatly into the middle of the trip.
  • The weather works for couples from October to March, and Kovalam's sea is at its calmest from November to February, which matters if a beach finish is the part you are looking forward to most.

Highlights of Kerala Honeymoon Packages

Every featured route comes with honeymoon touches built into the quoted price rather than sold on top. That means a honeymoon room with flower bed decoration and a welcome cake, one candlelight dinner, one couple Ayurveda massage at Thekkady, and a private premium houseboat with dinner served on the deck. On the 5 and 6 night routes, the flower bed setup is arranged at each hotel, not only the first.

Extra touches beyond these depend on the property's own honeymoon policy. A second candlelight dinner, another couple's spa session, a fresh cake, or a jump up to a honeymoon suite or pool villa can usually be arranged if you ask at the time of booking, and we re-quote them so there are no surprises on the bill. A short heads-up: some resorts that give honeymoon inclusions ask to see a valid marriage certificate at check-in. The rule varies by property, so carry a copy if it applies to your hotels and we will confirm which ones need it.

Best Places in Kerala for Couples on Honeymoon

  • Munnar. Tea estates on every slope and cold, misty evenings in December and January that couples end up loving. A shikara ride on Kundala Lake early in the morning, before the day buses arrive, and a private walk through a working tea estate are the two things worth getting up for here. See our Munnar travel guide for more on the hill station.
  • Alleppey backwaters. This is where the private houseboat night happens. The boat casts off around midday, so you get the whole afternoon and sunset on Vembanad Lake, with lunch, evening tea and dinner all cooked on board and served on the upper deck as the boat sits anchored for the night. Our Alleppey backwaters guide covers the houseboat experience in more detail.
  • Thekkady. The cardamom hills and spice country. A guided plantation walk, an early Periyar Lake cruise and a couple Ayurveda massage make this the calm, green middle of the trip. Splitting a fresh green cardamom pod in your hand is nothing like the version from a jar at home.
  • Kovalam. The beach finish on the featured longer routes. Lighthouse Beach for the sunset and a seafood dinner by the sea, then a relaxed final morning with no early checkout rush before the Trivandrum drop.
  • Poovar. A quieter alternative to Kovalam, where a backwater estuary meets the Arabian Sea. It features on the Tea Hills, Houseboat and Poovar Island route for couples who want the south coast without the crowds. Ask us if you would rather end somewhere still.

Best Time to Plan a Kerala Honeymoon

  • October to March is the main window. Dry, comfortable days across the hills, backwaters and coast, and the easiest weather for a first trip. Our full best time to visit Kerala guide breaks the seasons down month by month.
  • November to February is best if a beach finish matters, because that is when Kovalam's sea is calmest and the evenings on the coast are pleasant.
  • December and January bring cold, misty evenings in Munnar. Peak-date rates apply from 20 December to 5 January, and around Onam, Christmas and New Year, so book early if your dates fall there.
  • June to September is the monsoon. It is green and quiet, and good for an Ayurveda-focused honeymoon, but hill roads and houseboat cruises are affected by rain, so it suits couples who want to slow right down rather than sightsee.
  • Late January to March is calving season at Eravikulam National Park near Munnar, when the Rajamalai zone usually closes to visitors. It does not affect the rest of the Munnar plan, and we brief couples on it before travel.

Why Book Kerala Honeymoon Packages with trip2keralam?

  • We are based in Kerala and run these routes ourselves. The hotels, the houseboat operators and the drivers are people our team works with directly, so what is on this page is what actually happens on the ground.
  • The houseboat we quote is a private premium boat, yours for the night. We say so plainly because a shared boat at a private-boat price is the shortcut a lot of operators take quietly.
  • We flag the open-jaw flight point, into Kochi and out of Trivandrum, before you book tickets. It saves a wasted day at the end, and it is the kind of thing that is useless to hear after the flights are paid for.
  • Honeymoon rooms, the candlelight dinner and the couple massage are arranged and confirmed with each property, not left as a vague promise. Where a resort asks for a marriage certificate, we tell you in advance.
  • You get one point of contact who knows your booking, plus 24x7 on-ground assistance while you travel. If weather or a forest closure means a day has to be re-sequenced, we handle it and the inclusions stay the same.
  • The quote we send is firm and itemised, with what is included and what is not stated up front, so the price you agree is the price you pay for the hotel category you confirmed.

Inclusion & Exclusion

Included

  • Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing, BB (CP) plan, meaning room plus daily breakfast.
  • A private premium houseboat night on full board: welcome drink, lunch, evening tea with snacks, dinner and next-morning breakfast, all cooked on board. This is the standard way Alleppey and Kumarakom houseboats are sold.
  • Honeymoon inclusions in the quoted price: flower bed decoration and a welcome cake in the honeymoon room, one candlelight dinner, one couple Ayurveda massage at Thekkady, and the private houseboat.
  • A private AC vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing as per the itinerary, with an experienced local driver who knows the routes.
  • All fuel, tolls, parking, inter-state permits and driver allowance.
  • Entry tickets and ride charges for everything named in the day-by-day plan, such as the Kundala Lake shikara ride and the Periyar Lake cruise.
  • Airport or railway station pickup and drop, and 24x7 on-ground assistance from the trip2keralam team in Kerala.

Not included

  • Air and rail fare. The packages are land only. We can add flights or trains to your quote at current fares on request.
  • Lunch and dinner on land nights. Only the houseboat night is on full board.
  • Any site, ride or activity not named in the itinerary, including wildlife safaris, bamboo rafting and adventure activities.
  • Ayurveda treatments and spa beyond the one couple massage listed, plus camera fees, tips and personal expenses.
  • GST as applicable on tour packages.
  • Anything not listed under inclusions.

Booking, Payment & Cancellation

Booking is simple. 50% of the package amount confirms the trip, and the balance is due before departure or on arrival. Payment is by bank wire transfer to our account, and your confirmation follows once we receive it.

Prices are per person on twin sharing, land only, and hold for the hotel category you confirm at booking. Room and meal plan upgrades, from BB (CP) to MAP or AP, or from standard to deluxe or premium, are re-quoted. Rates also move on peak dates, from 20 December to 5 January and around Onam, Christmas, New Year and long weekends.

On cancellation, confirmed dates can be changed, shortened or cancelled with 30 days written notice to us, subject to availability. Inside 30 days the reservation cannot be changed, postponed or cancelled, and the package amount is retained in full. No-shows are not eligible for a refund, and there is no credit for unused nights or an early departure. Peak-date bookings from 20 December to 5 January may carry stricter hotel cancellation terms, which we confirm in writing when you book.

One honest note on the shorter routes. A 3 nights and 4 days honeymoon is a real trip, but it is hills and one houseboat night, and no beach. If a beach finish is the part you are set on, the 5 or 6 night route is the one to book, not the short one with a day squeezed in.

Ready to plan it? Send us your dates and how many nights you have, and our Kerala team will come back with the day-by-day route, the hotels and the private houseboat, and a firm per-person quote before you commit. Tell us your flight plan early and we will tell you whether the open-jaw Kochi to Trivandrum booking works better for your dates.

FAQs

How much does a Kerala honeymoon package cost?
Our featured Kerala honeymoon packages run from Rs.12,499 to Rs.33,999 per person on twin sharing, land only, on BB (CP), as of August 2026 and subject to approval. The recommended 5 nights and 6 days route is Rs.17,999 per person. Air and rail fare are not included, and rates move on peak dates such as 20 December to 5 January and Onam.
Is the honeymoon houseboat private or shared?

It is a private premium houseboat, yours for the night, not a shared cabin on a bigger boat. The night runs on full board with a welcome drink, lunch, evening tea, dinner and next-morning breakfast, all cooked on board. The boat boards around midday, so the afternoon, the sunset cruise and dinner on the deck are all yours.

How many days do we need for a Kerala honeymoon?

Five to six days is the sweet spot. That holds Munnar, Thekkady, a private houseboat and a Kovalam beach finish at an unhurried pace. Four nights works well if you skip the beach, and three nights covers only hills and one houseboat night. With eight to ten days you can add Marari, the Varkala cliff or a Poovar island stay without any of it feeling rushed.

Should we fly into Kochi and out of Trivandrum?

Yes, for the 5 and 6 night routes. They run north to south and finish at Kovalam, so a return ticket into Kochi means driving all the way back up. An open-jaw booking, into Kochi and out of Trivandrum, saves a full day and usually costs about the same. Sort this before you book flights.

Are honeymoon inclusions like flowers and a cake in the price?

Flower bed decoration, a welcome cake, one candlelight dinner, one couple Ayurveda massage and the private houseboat are all inside the quoted price on the featured routes. Extra add-ons, a second candlelight dinner, another spa session or a suite upgrade, can be arranged if you ask at booking and are re-quoted.

Will the resort ask us for a marriage certificate?

Some might. Resorts that give honeymoon inclusions sometimes ask for a valid marriage certificate at check-in, and the policy varies by property. Carry a copy to be safe, and we will confirm which of your specific hotels ask for it when we finalise the booking.

When is the best time for a Kerala honeymoon?

October to March gives the most comfortable weather across hills, backwaters and coast. November to February is best for a beach finish, when Kovalam's sea is calmest. December and January bring cold, misty Munnar evenings. The monsoon from June to September is green and quiet but wetter, and better suited to a slow, Ayurveda-focused stay.

Can we end the trip on a beach instead of the backwaters?
Yes. The 5 and 6 night routes are built to finish at Kovalam, so the beach comes after the houseboat rather than before it. If you would rather a quieter shore, the Tea Hills, Houseboat and Poovar Island route ends at Poovar instead. Tell us which you prefer and we will set the route accordingly.
Can the itinerary be customized?

Every itinerary is customisable. The room category and meal plan stay open, upgrades to deluxe or premium and to MAP or AP are re-quoted, and the trip works with or without flights. You can add nights, swap a beach for backwaters, or shift the pace, and we rebuild the plan and the quote around it.

Is a Kerala honeymoon a good first trip together?

It is one of the easier honeymoons to plan in India. The distances are short, one team handles the whole trip on the ground, and the mix of hills, water and beach means you are not doing the same thing for six days. There is 24x7 assistance while you travel, so if anything shifts, someone local sorts it.

What is not included that we should budget for?

Air and rail fare, since the packages are land only. Lunch and dinner on the land nights, as only the houseboat night is full board. Any activity not named in the plan, such as wildlife safaris or adventure add-ons. Ayurveda beyond the one couple massage, camera fees, tips and personal expenses. GST applies as per the current slab.

Planning your Kerala honeymoon? Message us your travel dates and the number of nights you have, and we will send a route, hotels and a firm per-person quote to look over. No deposit to get the plan.
