Alappuzha · 1.5 hrs by road from KochiThe houseboat capital of the backwaters. Cruises leave Punnamada finishing point every afternoon, spend the night moored in a paddy-field canal and drop you back after breakfast. The Nehru Trophy snake boat race is here every August.
