Kerala Tour Packages for 3 Days, Planned by Our Team in Kerala
Our 3-day standard Kerala packages start from ₹3,108 to ₹4,951 per person and cover the classics like hill country and backwaters, with October to March being the best stretch for weather. The usual plan is one night up in the Munnar tea estates and one full night on an Alleppey houseboat. If you would rather skip the climbs, we also run a gentler Fort Kochi heritage and waterfalls route with almost no hill driving.
What can you do on a 3 Day Kerala trip?
Most people put the Munnar tea hills together with an Alleppey houseboat. Some skip the hills and spend longer on the backwaters. Others go for Fort Kochi and the Athirappilly falls, a Thekkady wildlife break, the quieter Wayanad hills, or a beach break at Kovalam or Varkala. Here are the 3 days 2 nights Kerala packages our on-ground team runs most often. The first three pair two experiences in one trip. The rest give a single place its due, a hill station, a beach or a wildlife reserve, at a calm pace. The column that matters most on a short trip is the drive load, so we have put it front and centre.

What is the best 3 Day Kerala itinerary?
It depends on what you are willing to drive for. Below are the three routes in full, with real drive times, so you can see how much of each day is spent moving and how much is spent being somewhere worth stopping.
Route 1: Kochi to Munnar to Alleppey (the classic pairing)
This is the Munnar Alleppey 3 Day package most first-timers picture, and the one that packs the most variety into the time. It also asks the most of you on the road.
Day 1, up into the tea hills. Pickup at Kochi and the climb to Munnar by the Cheeyappara ghat road, with waterfall halts on the way up. The afternoon goes to Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point, then a viewpoint for sunset. Night in Munnar.
Day 2, down to the water. An early walk in the tea estates, then the long descent to Alleppey by way of Thodupuzha and Vaikom. This is the honest catch of the route, close to five hours in the car. You board the houseboat around midday and the afternoon is yours on the backwaters, with the boat anchoring for a sunset dinner. Night on board, all meals cooked for you.
Day 3, breakfast on the water, then home. Breakfast is served on the boat before you disembark, then the drive back to Kochi for your airport or station drop.
Best for couples and first-timers who want both the hills and the houseboat and do not mind one big driving day to get them. If a five-hour Day 2 sounds like a lot with small children or older parents in the car, read the next route first.
Route 2: The Alleppey backwater weekender (least driving)
Skip the hills, give the backwaters more room. Alleppey sits about two hours from Kochi on the NH66, so this 3 Day Kerala itinerary from Kochi never puts you through a long ghat descent. It is the gentlest of the three.
Day 1, settle in by the lake. Pickup at Kochi and the roughly two-hour run to Alleppey. Check in at a lakeside hotel, then an evening at Alleppey beach and the old 1862 pier, left from the days when this was a working port. Night in the hotel.
Day 2, onto the houseboat. Check out and board a deluxe houseboat around midday. The afternoon cruises Vembanad Lake, the narrow Kainakary canals and the Kuttanad polders, paddy fields farmed below sea level behind earth bunds, which is the part most people do not expect. The boat moors for sunset. Night on board, all meals included.
Day 3, one last stop. Disembark after breakfast, with a short stop at the Ambalappuzha temple or Marari beach depending on your group, then back to Kochi for the drop.
Best for couples and families who came for the houseboat and would rather not spend the trip in a car. You lose the tea hills. You gain a slower, calmer three days.
Route 3: Fort Kochi and Athirappilly (heritage and a waterfall)
No hill roads, no houseboat, the lowest starting price of the three. This one trades the backwaters for five centuries of port-town history and Kerala's biggest waterfall.
Day 1, walk through Fort Kochi. Pickup and a walk covering the Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church, where Vasco da Gama was first buried, then Mattancherry Palace and the Jew Town lanes. An evening Kathakali or Kalaripayattu performance closes the day. Night in Kochi.
Day 2, out to the falls. A drive of about two hours inland via Chalakudy to Athirappilly, an 80-foot curtain of water on the Chalakudy river, and Vazhachal a short way on. Night at a riverside resort near the falls, so you catch them in the evening light and again in the morning rather than as a rushed day trip.
Day 3, a slow morning. A last look at the falls or the Thumboormuzhi butterfly garden, then the drive back to Kochi for your departure.
Best for families, and for anyone travelling in the monsoon when Athirappilly runs at full volume. One honest note: the falls are fullest right after the rains, but that is also when the forest department can shut the path to the base, so you plan for the big water or the close-up view, not always both.

How much does a 3 Day Kerala trip cost?
Our 3 Day Kerala package price starts from ₹4,999 per person and rises with the route and how you like to travel. All the from-prices below are twin sharing, land only, on room-with-breakfast, as of August 2026 and subject to approval:
- Varkala cliff and Ayurveda, from ₹3,943, and Kovalam beach unwind, from ₹4,951. A beach reset from Trivandrum.
- Munnar tea trails weekend, from ₹3,108, the lightest on the wallet, and Wayanad green weekend, from ₹4,479. A single hill station done at a calm pace.
- Fort Kochi and Athirappilly, from ₹3,921, and Thekkady spice and Periyar, from ₹3,977. Heritage and a waterfall, or wildlife and spice.
- Alleppey backwater weekender, from ₹4,971. One hotel night plus a full houseboat night, the classic backwater experience.
- Kochi to Munnar to Alleppey, from ₹4,913. Hills plus the houseboat, the most ground covered in three days.
What moves the number: Mainly the tier you book. Every route comes in four grades, Standard, Deluxe, Premium and Luxury, and each step up buys a better hotel and, on the backwater routes, a better class of houseboat. After that it is your meal plan if you move from breakfast-only to half or full board, your group size, and your travel dates. Rates step up over the peak run of 20 December to 5 January, and around Onam, Christmas and New Year, so the same route costs more then than in a quiet week. The quoted price is land only, so flights or trains add to the total on top.
Send us your dates and group size on WhatsApp or by email, and our Kerala team will come back with the exact per-person price for the route and tier you want, along with the full day-by-day plan, before you commit to anything.
What is the best time to visit Kerala for 3 Days?
- October to March. That is the dry, cooler stretch when the backwaters are calm, the Munnar mornings are crisp and the roads are easy, which matters when your whole trip is only three days and one washed-out afternoon is a big chunk of it.
- April and May are hot and humid in the plains and on the water, though Munnar stays cooler up top.
- June to September is the monsoon: the hills turn deep green and prices ease, but expect rain, and houseboat cruising can be cut short on rough days.
- If waterfalls are your reason to come, the weeks just after the monsoon are when Athirappilly is at its most powerful.
- The peak dates of 20 December to 5 January bring the best weather and the biggest crowds and rates, so book those early.
How to reach Kerala and where the trip starts
Our three featured routes start and finish at Kochi, and Cochin International Airport (COK) is the base. It is the most connected airport in Kerala for domestic flights, and it sits within reach of Munnar, Alleppey and Athirappilly alike, which is why the short routes are built around it. The beach breaks at Kovalam and Varkala run from Trivandrum (TRV) instead, and the Wayanad weekend from Kozhikode (CCJ), since those are the nearest airports in each case.
Our team meets you at the airport or the railway station and the same private car stays with you for the whole trip, so you are not renegotiating transport at each stop. If you are flying in, aim for a morning arrival on Day 1. It buys you the afternoon at your first destination instead of losing it to the transfer, and on a three-day trip that half day is worth protecting.
What to know before you book
Houseboat timing
You board around midday and the boat moors for the night, it does not cruise in the dark. Breakfast is served on board before you step off the next morning. So, a houseboat night is really an afternoon, an evening and a morning on the water, not a round-the-clock cruise.
Driving is the real variable
The Munnar route has a five-hour Day 2. The Alleppey and Athirappilly routes keep drives near two hours. If anyone in your group tires on long roads, that difference should decide your route more than the price does.
Temple stops have rules
Where a route includes a temple, entry and dress codes are set by the temple, not by us, and some are stricter than visitors expect. Our team briefs you before the stop, and there is usually a beach or alternative if it does not suit the group.
Monsoon changes the falls, both ways
Athirappilly is at full force right after the rains, but the descent to the base can be closed on high-water days. Plan for the view or the walk down, not a guarantee of both.
Elderly travellers and young children
The lighter Alleppey and Fort Kochi routes suit them better. The Munnar pairing is doable, but the long Day 2 is a genuine consideration.
Why book your 3 Day Kerala package with trip2keralam
We are a Kerala-based team, and every trip is run from here, on the ground, not from a call centre in another state. On a three-day trip that is not a slogan, it is the difference between a plan that survives contact with real roads and one that does not.
What makes us different
- You see the full day-by-day route and the exact per-person price before you pay anything. No surprises baked into the fine print.
- We tell you the catches upfront, including the long Munnar driving day and the monsoon limits on the falls, because a filtered-out enquiry beats a cancelled trip.
- Hotels we know and a private car kept with you throughout, chosen for your tier at booking rather than swapped at every district line.
- Every itinerary is customisable, and each package works with or without flights.
What you can count on
- Book with a part payment. 50 percent confirms your dates and the balance falls due before departure or on arrival, so you are not paying the whole amount months ahead.
- Round-the-clock support. While you travel you reach a local team working in the same time zone as your trip, not an overnight queue.
- Clear terms, in writing. Inclusions, exclusions and cancellation terms are set out before you pay, rather than buried in fine print.
- Booking confirmation. Every booking is confirmed in writing, with your itinerary, hotels and price on record, so both sides know exactly what was agreed.
FAQs
Is 3 days enough for Kerala?
Yes, for two of the state's signature experiences done properly. In three days you get two nights, so the honest plan is a Munnar tea-hill night paired with an Alleppey houseboat night, or the backwaters and Fort Kochi at a slower pace. It is not enough to add Thekkady or Wayanad without the days turning into a car marathon. For that, four or five days is the more comfortable answer.
Can you do Munnar and Alleppey in 3 days?
You can, and it is our most-booked 3-day route. The catch is Day 2, when you drive down from Munnar to Alleppey in close to five hours before boarding the houseboat. You still get a genuine tea-estate morning and a full houseboat night. If a long driving day does not suit your group, the Alleppey-only route keeps every drive near two hours.
How much does a 3 Day Kerala trip cost per person?
Which places are best to cover in Kerala in 3 Days?
Which airport should I fly into for a 3 Day Kerala trip?
Cochin International Airport, code COK. It is the best-connected airport for domestic flights and sits within reach of Munnar, Alleppey and Athirappilly, which is why all three of our short routes start and end there. Aim for a morning arrival so you keep the afternoon of Day 1 for sightseeing rather than losing it to the transfer.

Three days is a short window and one shot at getting Kerala right, which is exactly why it pays to have a local team plan the route around your dates rather than guess from a template.
