Day 2 Up to Munnar through waterfall country
After breakfast we drive up to Munnar, roughly four hours, with stops at the Cheeyappara and Valara falls where the road runs right beside the water. The afternoon is free at the Pothamedu viewpoint over the tea slopes. Overnight in Munnar.
Day 3 A full day around Munnar
A local sightseeing day: Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, Top Station, the Tata Tea Museum and Photo Point. Do Top Station early, before the mist climbs and takes the view with it. Overnight in Munnar.
Day 4 Across to Thekkady and an evening of Kalari
A drive through the cardamom hills to Thekkady, then a guided spice plantation walk at Kumily. In the evening there is an optional Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performance. Crack a fresh cardamom pod open on the walk and the smell is nothing like the jar at home. Overnight in Thekkady.
Day 5 Periyar at dawn, then the houseboat at Alleppey
An early cruise on Periyar Lake, when the animals are still coming down to the water, then the drive to Alleppey to board your houseboat around midday. Lunch is served as the boat pulls out, the afternoon drifts through the Kuttanad canals, and you anchor for sunset with dinner cooked on deck. Every meal on the boat is included. Overnight on the houseboat.
Day 6 Breakfast on the water, then the drive back to Kochi
