Kerala Tour Packages for 5 Days

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Our standard Kerala tour packages for 5 days run from Rs. 6,456 to Rs. 6,998 per person, and the fourth night is the one that ends the hills-or-backwaters. Five days gives you four nights, enough to hold the Munnar tea hills, Thekkady's spice and wildlife and a backwater houseboat in one clean loop, or to trade a stop for a beach. The weather window that suits it best is October to March.

In 5 days, you can run the full Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey circuit at a pace that leaves room to actually stop, or spend four nights settled in one district and day-trip out, which is the calmer trip for a family.

That is why we run eight different 4N/5D routes rather than one. A first-timer wants the classic three-region loop. A honeymooning couple wants a private houseboat and a quiet beach, not a bus-load itinerary. A trekker wants Vagamon's meadows over another dam viewpoint. The right five days depend far more on who is travelling than on the number itself.

We will be honest where it matters. Five days still is not the whole state, and anyone promising you the north, the south and the hills in one trip is selling a car journey. What five days does well is two or three things done properly, with a night spare to slow down.

4 Nights 5 Days Kerala Tour Packages

A 4 nights 5 days Kerala trip covers three experiences at a comfortable pace. A popular run links Munnar's tea hills, Thekkady's spice country, and the Alleppey backwaters before you finish near the coast. Our on-ground team spaces the drives so no day feels long. Compare the options below.

What do five days in Kerala actually get you?

4 nights 5 days in Kerala is enough to add wildlife or a beach to the standard hills-and-backwater pairing, so you are not picking between Thekkady and the houseboat the way a shorter trip makes you.

Put simply, the fourth night buys options. You can run the full circuit, Munnar for tea, Thekkady for spice and the Periyar cruise, then Alleppey for a houseboat, and still end back at Kochi with nothing rushed. Or you can keep it flat and coastal, swapping the ghats for a backwater-and-beach run down to Kovalam. Or you settle into one place, three nights in a single Wayanad resort with day trips out, and unpack only once.

Couples get their own version of the extra night. A honeymoon route can slow the same circuit right down, board a private houseboat at midday for the full afternoon on the water, or finish on a quiet fishing-village beach instead of a busy strip. All eight routes below are ones our on-ground team runs and handles start to finish.

Which of the Kerala 5 day routes fits your trip?

Match the route to who is travelling and what you came for. Here are all eight, grouped by the kind of trip they are.

1. The offbeat highlands: The Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Escape starts from Rs. 6,906 per person. Two nights at Vagamon cover the pine forest, meadows, Kurisumala and the Marmala falls, then two nights at Thekkady for the spice plantations and the early Periyar Lake cruise. It skips the houseboat on purpose, which is the trade a trekker usually makes gladly.

2. Something other than the standard circuit: The Athirappilly, Munnar and Kochi Nature Circuit, from Rs. 6,479, opens with a riverside night at Kerala's largest waterfall so you reach it before the day crowd drives up from Kochi. Then two nights in Munnar and a closing night in Fort Kochi. It suits repeat visitors who have already done the usual loop, and photographers after something other than another dam.

3. Families who want to unpack once: The Wayanad and Kozhikode Family Explorer, from Rs. 6,499, keeps you three nights in one Wayanad resort with day trips to Pookode Lake, Soochipara, Edakkal Caves and Banasura Sagar, then a final night at Kozhikode for the Beypore boatyards and the SM Street food lanes. For families who prefer water and mountains together, the Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey Family Trail, from Rs. 6,987, opens with a Kochi night so nobody drives straight off a flight, and keeps the longest driving day under four hours.

4. The full first-timer circuit: The Kerala Classic, Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey, from Rs. 6,456, the lowest-priced of the eight and the one we recommend without hesitation for a first visit. Two nights in Munnar, one in Thekkady, one on a Kuttanad houseboat, round trip from Kochi with no road repeated. It covers the full range Kerala does, from the high tea estates down to below sea level.

5. Backwaters and a beach, with no ghat roads at all: The Backwaters to Beaches route, Alleppey and Kovalam, from Rs. 6,997, stays at sea level the whole way. One hotel night and one full houseboat night at Alleppey, then two nights at Kovalam with a Trivandrum heritage morning. No hairpin climbing anywhere in it, which suits anyone prone to motion sickness.

6. Honeymoons, two moods. The Hills, Spice and Houseboat Romance, from Rs. 6,998, runs the classic route slowed down and privatised, ending on a private premium houseboat that is yours alone rather than a shared cabin. The Munnar Tea Hills and Marari Beach plan, from Rs. 6,992, ends instead at Marari, a working fishing-village beach that stayed quiet because no highway runs past it.

Sample Kerala 5 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Kochi to Munnar, through the waterfall country

Pickup at Cochin airport or Ernakulam railway station, then the climb into the hills. The last stretch runs right past the Cheeyappara and Valara falls. You check in at Munnar and the evening is yours to settle in.

Overnight: Munnar, hill hotel or resort on room-with-breakfast.

Day 2: The full Munnar sightseeing loop

A whole day in the tea country. Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, the Top Station viewpoint, the Tata Tea Museum and Photo Point. We aim for Top Station first thing, because by late morning the cloud usually settles into the valley and takes the view with it. December and January evenings up here turn genuinely cold, which most people end up enjoying.

Overnight: Munnar again, the second night in the same hotel.

Day 3: Over the cardamom hills to Thekkady

A drive across to Thekkady through the cardamom country, then a guided spice plantation walk at Kumily. Break open a fresh green pod at the estate and the smell is nothing like the dried version off a shop shelf. An evening Kathakali and Kalaripayattu show is optional and payable direct if you want it.

Overnight: Thekkady, hotel or resort on room-with-breakfast.

Day 4: An early Periyar cruise, then onto the houseboat

The first boat of the morning on Periyar Lake, when the animals are still coming down to the water and the lake is quiet. Slots are issued by the forest authority, so our team books ahead rather than turning up on the day. Then the drive to Alleppey to board the houseboat around midday, which is what gives you the whole afternoon and the sunset on the water. The boat cruises Vembanad Lake and the Kuttanad canals, then anchors for the night. All meals from lunch on are cooked on board.

Overnight: Aboard the houseboat on the Alleppey backwaters, all meals included.

Day 5: Breakfast on the water, then the drive back

Breakfast is served before you step off the boat, then a straightforward drive back to Kochi for your airport or railway drop. No early checkout scramble to close the trip.

Trip ends: Kochi (COK) or Ernakulam railway station.

The other seven routes run to a different shape. The Wayanad plan keeps you in one property for three nights and drives out each day. The Backwaters to Beaches route ends at the coast rather than looping back. The nature circuit opens at Athirappilly instead of Munnar. Each route's own page carries its full day plan.

Want this circuit on your dates? Tell us when you are travelling and we will hold the Munnar and Thekkady hotels and the Alleppey houseboat on your nights, then send the day-by-day plan with the exact figure.

How much does a 5 day Kerala tour package cost?

Our 4N/5D packages run from Rs. 6,456 to Rs. 6,998 per person on the Standard tier, on twin sharing, land only, as of September 2026 and subject to approval. Every route also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers, priced higher for better hotels and a private houseboat. Where you land comes down to the route, the tier and the season. Here is what moves the number:

  • Hotel category: Standard, Deluxe, Premium or Luxury, each a step up in hotel and houseboat class
  • Houseboat type on the backwater routes: a shared deluxe boat versus a private premium one
  • Meal plan: room-with-breakfast as standard, or breakfast plus dinner (MAP) or all meals (AP)
  • Group size, and whether you need an extra bed, a child rate or a single supplement
  • Peak dates: 20 December to 5 January, Onam, Christmas, New Year and long weekends
  • Flights: every package works with or without them, and we quote current fares if you want them added
TierFrom (per person)What you get
StandardRs. 6,456Comfortable hotels and a deluxe houseboat, on bed and breakfast
DeluxeRs. 7,487Upgraded hotels and a better class of houseboat
PremiumRs. 8,496Premium hotels and a premium houseboat, prime rooms
LuxuryRs. 9,490Luxury or boutique stays and a private luxury houseboat

The tiers above are shown for the Kerala Classic, and every route follows the same four-tier structure. These are from-prices, a starting point rather than a fixed rate. Send us your dates and group size and we will come back with the exact per-person figure for the route and tier you want.

When should you go for a 5 day Kerala trip?

  • Aim for October to March. Those months are dry and stable, the backwaters sit calm, the roads run easy, and Munnar and Vagamon give you clear mornings before the mist rolls in.
  • The catch is that this is peak season, so rates climb and hotels tighten their cancellation terms around Onam, Christmas and New Year.
  • Come outside that window and you make some trades. April and May turn hot and sticky down on the plains and the coast, but the hills hold their cool, so a Munnar or Vagamon trip still holds up.
  • The southwest monsoon arrives from June to September. It is lush, uncrowded and lighter on the wallet, though rough days can shorten a houseboat cruise, heavy rain can shut the Edakkal caves and the waterfall trails, and the cloud swallows the viewpoints.
  • Chasing waterfalls? Athirappilly thunders hardest in the weeks right after the rains, which is also exactly when the forest department tends to close the path down to its base.

Where each route starts and how you get there

Most of our five-day routes start and end at Cochin airport (COK), which is the practical base for Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey and Athirappilly. The Backwaters to Beaches route finishes at Trivandrum (TRV) instead, since it runs south down the coast. Wayanad has no airport of its own, so guests fly into Kozhikode (CCJ) and climb the Thamarassery ghat with its nine hairpin bends. The Vagamon and Thekkady route can drop you at Madurai as easily as Kochi, since Thekkady sits close to the Tamil Nadu border.

The circuits run the way they do on purpose. Munnar before Thekkady before Alleppey means you climb while you are fresh, cross the cardamom hills, and end on the water, rather than grinding uphill on the last day. There is no backtracking built into it. Pickup and drop at the airport or railway station are included on every package, and the same private car stays with you the whole way, so you are not renegotiating transport at each district line.

Things to sort out before you book

The practical detail that saves a bad surprise on the ground.

Houseboat timing

On the backwater routes you board around midday and the boat moors for the night, it does not cruise in the dark. You get breakfast on the water the next morning before stepping ashore. So a houseboat night is really an afternoon, an evening and a morning on the water, which is what most people actually want from it.

Temple entry on the coast route

Padmanabhaswamy Temple on the Trivandrum morning restricts entry to Hindus and enforces a strict dress code at the gate. We brief you on both before you arrive rather than let you be turned away, and the same morning still covers Kuthiramalika Palace and the Napier Museum, which carry no such restriction.

Some things depend on the weather and the authorities

The descent to the base of Athirappilly can close on high-water days, the Edakkal climb and Wayanad's waterfall trails shut in heavy rain, and Vagamon's paragliding is run by private operators and entirely weather-dependent. The Karlad Lake zipline needs travellers over ten and kayaking over fifteen. We treat all of these as a bonus, not a promise, and plan the day so it works either way.

Who the trip suits

Travelling with elderly parents or young children? The Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey Family Trail keeps its drives under four hours, and the Wayanad plan lets you unpack once. Honeymooners lean towards the Marari beach ending or the private houseboat. Pack light layers for Munnar, Vagamon and Wayanad, where December and January evenings turn cold.

Your vehicle

The private car is provided as per the itinerary, for your transfers and the planned sightseeing. It is not on disposal for unplanned running through the day.

Why plan your 5 day Kerala trip with trip2keralam

We are based in Kerala and run these trips from here, on the ground, so the person who plans your route is the one you can call while you are on the road. What follows from that:

Eight routes, not one

We do not bend every enquiry into the same Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey loop. If a beach ending or an offbeat highland trip fits you better, we will say so.

We know these roads ourselves

Our team knows which Munnar viewpoint to reach before the cloud, when the first Periyar boat leaves, and which Wayanad resort sits close enough to day-trip the caves without a long haul each morning.

Direct houseboat and resort relationships

We work with the Alleppey and Kumarakom operators here directly, so we know which boats suit a family and which are worth the premium for a couple.

Honest about the trade-offs

We flag the long driving day, the monsoon limits on the falls and the temple entry rules upfront, because a filtered enquiry beats a cancelled trip.

A firm quote before you pay anything

You see the full day-by-day route, the room category and the meal plan spelled out, with the exact per-person price, before any payment.

One team, around the clock

24x7 assistance for the length of the trip, from people working in the same time zone as your holiday, not an overnight queue in another state.

Booking and Cancellation

50% of the package amount confirms the booking, and the balance is due before departure or on arrival. Payment is by bank wire transfer to our account, and confirmation follows once we receive it.

Confirmed dates may be changed, shortened or cancelled with 30 days' written notice, subject to availability. Within 30 days the package amount is retained in full, no-shows are not eligible for a refund, and there is no credit for unused nights or an early departure. Peak-date bookings around 20 December to 5 January may carry stricter hotel cancellation terms, which we confirm in writing at the time of booking.

Is five days the right length for you?

If your dates are tighter, a four day Kerala tour package still fits the tea hills and a houseboat night, with less room to add a third stop. If you can spare two more days, a six day Kerala tour package opens up a Wayanad leg or a longer beach stretch without dropping a region to make room, and a seven day trip lets you take in the hills and the backwaters and the coast at a walking pace. You can compare every duration on our Kerala tour packages hub.

Kerala 5-day packages: FAQs

Is 5 days enough for Kerala?

For two or three regions, comfortably. Five days is four nights, enough to run the full Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey circuit at a sensible pace, or to pair the backwaters with a beach, or to settle into one district like Wayanad. It is not enough to see the whole state, and any plan that claims to will have you living in the car. Pick a few things and do them well.

Can you cover Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey in 5 days?

Yes, and it is the route we suggest most for a first visit. Two nights in Munnar for the tea estates and viewpoints, one in Thekkady for the spice walk and the early Periyar cruise, and one on a Kuttanad houseboat. The trip loops back to Kochi with no road repeated, so nothing is rushed and nothing is filler.

Can you add a beach to a 5 day Kerala trip?
You can. The Backwaters to Beaches route trades the hills for a flat, ghat-free run, a houseboat night at Alleppey then two nights at Kovalam with a Trivandrum heritage morning. For a honeymoon, the Marari plan ends on a quiet fishing-village beach instead. If a hill station matters more to you than sand, the classic circuit is the better fit.
Which is the best 5 day Kerala route for a first visit?

The Kerala Classic covering Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey. It packs the widest range into the time, hills, spice, wildlife and backwaters, with the drives broken sensibly and no backtracking. Families with young children or elderly parents often do better on the Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey Family Trail, which keeps every drive under four hours.

What is the cheapest 5 day Kerala package?
The Kerala Classic, Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey, from Rs. 6,456 per person on twin sharing, land only, as of September 2026. It prices lowest of the eight on the Standard tier, even with a Kuttanad houseboat night in it. Moving up a hotel tier or adding a private boat lifts the price, and peak dates cost more.
Is a 5 day Kerala trip good for a honeymoon?
It is one of the better lengths for it. Four nights is enough to slow the trip right down: a full unhurried day in Munnar, a private premium houseboat boarded at midday so the afternoon and sunset are yours, and a candlelight dinner or couple's Ayurveda on request. The Hills, Spice and Houseboat Romance and the Munnar Tea Hills and Marari Beach routes are both built around that.
How much of a 5 day Kerala trip is spent driving?

Less than a shorter trip forces on you, because the extra night lets the drives sit between full days rather than stacking up. The Kochi to Munnar climb and the drop to Alleppey are each roughly half a day, and the family route keeps its longest drive under four hours. The Wayanad and single-base routes cut driving further, with only short local hops between stops.

Which airport should I fly into for 5 days in Kerala?
Cochin (COK) for most routes, including Munnar, Thekkady, Alleppey and Athirappilly. Trivandrum (TRV) for the Backwaters to Beaches route, since it ends on the south coast. Kozhikode (CCJ) for Wayanad, which has no airport of its own. Whichever airport you use, the pickup and drop are built into the package.

Plan your 5 days in Kerala with us

Eight routes, one length, and a team in Kerala to run whichever one fits. Whether you want the full hills-to-backwater circuit, a beach and boat combination with no ghat roads, an offbeat highland trek, or a honeymoon on a private houseboat, we will build it around your dates and price it before you commit.

Send us your travel dates, group size and the ages of anyone travelling, on WhatsApp or by email, and our Kerala team will come back with the day-by-day plan and a firm per-person quote. Every itinerary is customisable, with or without flights.
