Vagamon tour packages run 5 to 10 days. The shortest, the five-day Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Escape, starts at Rs. 6,906 per person (standard tier price), while longer offbeat circuits that add Gavi, Nilambur and the far south reach Rs. 13,999. Every package here is quoted at its standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers available for the same route. Season, hotel category and group size change the price.

What Does a Vagamon Tour Package Cost?

Rates are per person on twin sharing, bed and breakfast. Every trip here spends at least one night at Vagamon, most paired with Munnar, Thekkady, Gavi or the offbeat south. Every rate is a starting figure for the Standard tier. Each package also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers for the same route, quoted on request. Suggested Vagamon Itineraries, Day by Day

Two Vagamon-focused routings we plan to order. Prices are on request, because we tailor the hotels, nights and stops to your dates. The six-day version is also sold as a set package from Rs. 6,499 (standard tier) in the table above.

Suggested Itinerary 1: Munnar and Vagamon Hill Escape (3 Nights / 4 Days, on request)

A short hills-only plan for a long weekend, pairing Munnar's tea country with a night at Vagamon. Built to your dates, not a fixed-price package.

  • Day 1: Kochi pickup and drive up to Munnar through the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfall road. Check in by afternoon.
  • Day 2: Munnar sightseeing: Mattupetty, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, Top Station and the Tea Museum. Do Top Station early, before the mist closes in.
  • Day 3: Drive to Vagamon by way of the Idukki Arch Dam viewpoint, then the afternoon in the pine forest and the Mottakunnu meadows.
  • Day 4: Kurisumala and the Marmala waterfalls in the morning, then the drive back to Kochi for departure.

Suggested Itinerary 2: Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Trail (5 Nights / 6 Days, on request; set package from Rs. 6,499)

The fuller highland loop, and the routing behind our set Highland Trail package. Take it on request with your own hotels and nights, or as the fixed package priced in the table above.

  • Day 1: Kochi to Munnar through the waterfall road, checking in by afternoon.
  • Day 2: A full Munnar day: Mattupetty, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, Top Station and the Tea Museum.
  • Day 3: Drive to Vagamon via the Idukki Arch Dam viewpoint, then the pine forest and meadows. The pine forest, planted in rows, looks unlike anywhere else in Kerala.
  • Day 4: Kurisumala and the Marmala waterfalls, then the drive to Thekkady through the Peermade tea belt, a stretch most Kerala itineraries drive straight past.
  • Day 5: The first Periyar Lake boat of the morning, a spice plantation walk, an optional bamboo raft inside the reserve paid direct, and an evening cultural show.
  • Day 6: A relaxed final morning, then the transfer to Kochi or Madurai for your drop.

Is Vagamon Worth Visiting?

Yes, if you want quiet hills, pine forest and meadows rather than crowds and queues at viewpoints. Vagamon is smaller and calmer than Munnar, which is exactly its appeal.

Vagamon does not have a long list of ticketed sights. What it has is space: rolling meadows at Mottakunnu, the planted pine forest, the three hills of Kurisumala, Thangalpara and Murugan Hill, and one of India's best paragliding take-off points at Kolahalamedu. If your idea of a hill station is walking, photography and slow mornings, it delivers. If you want packed sightseeing, pair it with Munnar and Thekkady, which is what our Highland Trail does.

How Many Days Do You Need in Vagamon?

One-night covers Vagamon comfortably. A day is enough to see the pine forest, meadows and a hill or two, so most travellers add it to Munnar and Thekkady rather than staying longer.

A standalone two-day trip from Kochi works if you only want to switch off for a weekend. But the town is compact, and two full days here can feel slow unless you are trekking or paragliding. That is the honest trade-off: Vagamon rewards a short, unhurried stop more than a long stay, which is why our circuit gives it one night and spends the rest of the week in Munnar and Thekkady.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Vagamon?

September to March is the best window for Vagamon, with cool, clear days for meadows and viewpoints. The paragliding season runs roughly September to January and again March to May.

The International Paragliding Festival at Kolahalamedu is usually held in March. In 2025 it ran from 19 to 23 March, with pilots from several countries, under Federation Aeronautique Internationale recognition. Dates shift year to year, so confirm before you plan around it, as of September 2026.

From June to September the monsoon turns the hills green and the waterfalls full, but Western Ghats roads get slippery, paragliding pauses, and viewpoints often sit inside cloud. If you travel in the monsoon, keep the plan flexible and carry travel insurance. April and May are warmer and quieter, fine for a budget trip if you do not mind the haze.

How Do You Reach Vagamon from Kochi?

Vagamon is about 100 km from Kochi, roughly 3.5 to 4 hours by road via NH85 and the ghat climb. The nearest airport is Cochin International, about 100 km, and the nearest railway station is Kottayam, about 65 km.

On our packages you do not drive yourself. A private cab with a local driver picks you up at Kochi airport or station and stays with you through the trip. On the Highland Trail the route reaches Vagamon from Munnar rather than straight from Kochi, so the road you actually take runs past the Idukki Arch Dam viewpoint, which the direct Kochi road misses. Kottayam is the closest railhead if you arrive by train, and Madurai in Tamil Nadu is a practical exit point after Thekkady.

Why Book Your Vagamon Tour Package with trip2keralam

We are a Kerala-based operator with a team on the ground across the state. We plan the route, drive it ourselves, and stay reachable for the whole trip.

An on-ground Kerala team, not a call centre

Your driver-cum-guide is local and knows the Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady roads. A coordinator stays reachable through the trip, so a change of plan or a closed viewpoint gets sorted on the day, not over email.

Routes most operators skip

We build the Idukki Arch Dam viewpoint and the Peermade tea belt into the drive between stops, instead of taking the fastest highway. These are the stretches that make the highland circuit worth doing.

Prices you can see before you enquire

The starting rate for every hill package, the bed and breakfast plan, and the list of what costs extra are all on this page. You know the shape of the cost before anyone calls you.

Honest about what Vagamon needs

We will tell you when one night at Vagamon is enough and when to spend the extra day at Thekkady instead. Right-sizing the stay is what keeps a trip from feeling padded.

One team handles hotels, cab and permits

A 50 percent advance locks your hotels and cab. We handle inter-state permits, tolls and the driver, and meet you from airport pickup to final drop, so you are dealing with one team, not four.

Vagamon Tour Packages: Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do you need for Vagamon?

One night is enough for Vagamon itself. A single day covers the pine forest, the meadows and a hill or two, since the town is compact. Most people add Vagamon to a Munnar and Thekkady trip rather than staying longer. A standalone weekend from Kochi works only if you want to switch off rather than sightsee.

What is the best time to visit Vagamon?

September to March is the best time, with cool, clear days for the meadows and viewpoints. The paragliding season runs roughly September to January and again March to May. April and May are warmer and hazier but cheaper. June to September brings heavy monsoon rain, full waterfalls and green hills, but slippery ghat roads and clouded viewpoints, as of September 2026.

How much does a Vagamon tour package cost?

Vagamon packages start at Rs. 6,906 per person (standard tier price) for the five-day Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Escape on twin sharing, bed and breakfast, as of September 2026, and run up to Rs. 13,999 for the ten-day offbeat grand tour, all standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers quoted higher. Rates rise with hotel upgrades, dinner-inclusive plans, peak dates or a smaller group. Flights are extra.

Is Vagamon good for a honeymoon or couples?

Vagamon suits couples who want quiet over nightlife. The pine forest, meadows and slow mornings make it a calm, private stop, and it pairs well with a Munnar stay for a hills honeymoon. It is not a resort-and-spa destination on the scale of Munnar or Thekkady, so most couples give it one night inside a longer circuit rather than the whole trip.

Is Vagamon suitable for families with children?
Yes. The meadows, pine forest and gentle walks are easy for children, and the drives between Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady are short by Kerala standards. Paragliding has age and weight limits and is optional and paid direct, so it is not built into the family plan. We can adjust the pace and stops when you tell us the ages travelling.
How do you reach Vagamon from Kochi airport?
Vagamon is about 100 km from Cochin International Airport, roughly 3.5 to 4 hours by road via NH85 and the ghat climb. On our packages a private cab collects you at the airport and stays with you for the trip. The nearest railway station is Kottayam, about 65 km away, which is the better option if you arrive by train.
Can you do paragliding in Vagamon, and when?
Yes. Kolahalamedu above Vagamon is one of India's main paragliding take-off points and hosts the International Paragliding Festival, usually in March. Flying is best roughly September to January and March to May, when winds are steady. Paragliding is booked and paid on the spot with the licensed operators, so it sits outside the package price. We can point you to the season and the site.
Should you visit Vagamon during the monsoon?
The monsoon from June to September makes the hills green and the Marmala falls full, and it is the quietest, cheapest time to travel. The trade-off is real: ghat roads turn slippery, paragliding pauses, and viewpoints often sit inside cloud. If you travel then, keep the itinerary flexible, expect changes for weather, and carry travel insurance. Our team monitors hill road conditions during these months.
Is Vagamon better than Munnar?
They do different jobs. Munnar has the big tea estates, the famous viewpoints and more hotels, but also the crowds. Vagamon is smaller, quieter, and built around pine forest, meadows and paragliding. For a first Kerala hills trip, most travellers do both, which is why our Highland Trail strings Munnar, Vagamon and Thekkady together rather than choosing one.
What is included in a trip2keralam Vagamon package?
The rate covers hotels on twin sharing with daily breakfast, a private air-conditioned cab for the whole trip, a local driver-guide, all fuel, tolls and permits, entry tickets for everything named in the itinerary, airport or station transfers, and 24x7 on-ground help from our Kerala team. Lunch, dinner, flights, and optional activities like paragliding and bamboo rafting are not included.
