Our standard Kerala tour packages from Mumbai run from a 2 nights and 3 days weekend to a 9 nights and 10 days full tour, from Rs.3,184 to 14,999 per person, standard package, land only. With Kochi under two hours away, we recommend the 4 nights and 5 days Kerala Classic through Munnar, Thekkady and the Alleppey backwaters. Flights are extra.

From Mumbai, Kerala is close enough to be a long weekend. That single fact should shape how you read every one of these Kerala tour packages from Mumbai. The flight to Kochi is under two hours, with ten to fourteen nonstop services a day, so this is not a trip you have to hoard a full week of leave for.

trip2keralam is a Kerala-based operator, and our team works on the ground across the state. We run these routes ourselves, book the same hotels and houseboats, and stay reachable by phone while you travel. Every price on this page is land only, per person on twin sharing, taken from our current rate sheet. Flights from Mumbai are separate, and we tell you exactly where they fit.

Below are four durations that make sense from Mumbai, from a two-night weekend to a six-day circuit. One is marked as the trip we recommend and written out day by day. You also get the full inclusions, the exclusions in plain language, and where GST and airfare sit.

Here is what makes Mumbai different from the northern cities. Your flight lands into Kochi, and the classic route loops back to Kochi, so there is no open-jaw ticket to buy and no backtrack day to lose. A short flight and a round trip from one airport is what makes even a two-night Kerala break worth booking from Mumbai.

Why Visit Kerala from Mumbai?

Because it is the shortest way from Mumbai to a completely different India, and the connections make even a short trip worth it. The reasons, in short:

Under two hours in the air

Kochi is under two hours nonstop from Mumbai, with ten to fourteen flights a day on IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air and Air India Express (as of September 2026). Trivandrum runs about two hours and ten minutes, and Kozhikode, the gateway to north Kerala, about one hour forty-five.

A complete change of scene

you leave the city and land in a slower, greener, wetter state where the food turns to coconut, fish and rice, and nobody is in a hurry.

The right airport for your route

fly into Kochi for the classic hills-and-backwater circuit, Trivandrum for a beach reset at Kovalam or Varkala, and Kozhikode for Wayanad and the north. We match the airport to the route before you book.

Short trips genuinely work

because the flight is short, a two-night weekend is enough for a first taste of the tea hills and a houseboat, which is not true from the far north.

Fly rather than take the train

the Netravati and Mangala services run roughly 26 to 40 hours each way, so most Mumbai travellers fly and keep that time for Kerala itself.

Most Popular Kerala Package from Mumbai with Trip Cost

If you make just one trip from Mumbai, we point you to the 4 nights and 5 days Kerala Classic at Rs.6,456 per person on twin sharing, land only, because it packs the whole of classic Kerala into the shortest stay that still feels unhurried. It runs Kochi to Munnar for the tea estates at around 1,600 metres, down to Thekkady for the spice plantations and the Periyar Lake cruise, then a houseboat night on the Alleppey backwaters before looping back to Kochi for your flight home.

We recommend this one from Mumbai for a simple reason. Your flight is short, so you do not need six or seven nights to justify the airfare the way a traveller from the far north would. Four nights covers hills, spice, wildlife and backwaters at a sensible pace, and because it starts and finishes at Kochi you fly in and out of the same airport with no wasted backtrack day.

Kerala Golden Circuit
Kochi (1N) > Munnar (2N) > Thekkady (1N) > Alleppey houseboat (1N) > Kochi Rs.7,991 The same route eased out with a Fort Kochi night

The 2 nights and 3 days Munnar and Alleppey Express is the weekend version, one night in the Munnar tea hills and one on an Alleppey houseboat. It is genuinely doable from Mumbai because the flight is so short, but we are honest that Day 2 is close to five hours in the car as you drop from Munnar to the backwaters, so it suits couples and friends more than families with small children.

The 3 nights and 4 days Munnar and Alleppey Houseboat Escape spread that same hills-and-houseboat idea over an extra night. You get a full Munnar sightseeing day instead of a rushed afternoon, and the run to the boat stops being a race. This is the one we suggest for most first-timers who can add a day either side of a weekend.

The 4 nights and 5 days Kerala Classic adds Thekkady, which brings the spice plantations and the Periyar Lake cruise into the trip. This is the recommended pick, the point where the route covers the full range of what Kerala does with no filler day and no repeated road.

The 5 nights and 6 days Golden Circuit is the same classic route with a Fort Kochi night added at the front, so your flight day ends with a heritage walk rather than a long drive. Choose it if you land tired and want to ease in, or if the old port and a Kathakali evening matter to you.

The recommended 4N/5D route, day by day

Day 1  Kochi to Munnar through waterfall country

We pick you up at Kochi airport or Ernakulam station and drive up to Munnar, with halts at the Cheeyappara and Valara falls where the road runs right beside the water. The tea slopes open out as you climb. The evening is free to settle in. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 2  Munnar: dams, viewpoints and tea estates

A full local day around Munnar, taking in Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake, Top Station, the Tata Tea Museum and Photo Point. Do Top Station first thing, before the cloud settles and takes the valley with it. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3  Thekkady: spice plantations and an evening of Kalari

Down to Thekkady through the cardamom hills for a guided spice plantation walk at Kumily, where cardamom, pepper and vanilla grow close enough to crack a pod open in your hand. An optional evening Kathakali and Kalaripayattu show is easy to add. Overnight in Thekkady.

Day 4  Boarding the houseboat at Alleppey

An early boat cruise on Periyar Lake, when the animals are still coming down to drink and the water is quiet, then drive to Alleppey to board your houseboat around midday. Lunch comes out as the boat pulls away, the afternoon runs along the Kuttanad canals, and the crew cooks dinner as you moor for sunset. Every meal on the boat is included. Overnight on the houseboat.

Day 5  Breakfast on the water, back to Kochi

Breakfast on the boat, disembark in the morning, then the drive back to Kochi for your flight to Mumbai. If your flight is late in the day, tell us and we will fit a short Fort Kochi stop before the airport.

Prefer this at a gentler pace, or with a night by the sea tacked on the end? Message us how you like to travel and we will rebuild the five days and re-price them, no obligation.

Types of Kerala Packages from Mumbai

Those four durations are our general circuits. Travelling as a family, as a couple, on a budget, or wanting more comfort changes the stay, the pacing and the price. Here is how each version looks, with a real starting rate from our sheet. All rates below are per person on twin sharing, land only.

Kerala Family Tour Packages

The 4 nights and 5 days Kochi, Munnar and Alleppey Family Trail keeps a port city, a hill station and a houseboat night with no punishing drive and puts a Kochi night up front so nobody is stuck in a car on landing day. If you only have a long weekend, the 3 nights and 4 days Kochi and Munnar Family Getaway skips the boat and stays simple, two nights in Munnar from a Kochi base. Both leave the room category open so you can size the rooms to your family.

Kerala Honeymoon Packages

The 4 nights and 5 days Hills, Spice and Houseboat Romance takes couples through Munnar, Thekkady and a private Alleppey houseboat rather than a shared one. For a shorter honeymoon that still fits a Mumbai long weekend, the 3 nights and 4 days Misty Munnar and Houseboat Romance keeps the tea hills and a private houseboat. Book the tea hills for December or January and the estate evenings turn properly cold, which most couples like.

Kerala Budget Packages

The lowest entry point from Mumbai is a 2 nights and 3 days route. If you want the hills and a houseboat on a tighter budget, consider the 4 nights and 5 days Vagamon and Thekkady Highland Escape. All budget quotes are land only on standard hotels, so the way to keep the total down from Mumbai is to book flights early and travel outside the 20 December to 5 January peak.

Kerala Adventure Tour Package

For trekking, waterfalls and caves, the 3 nights and 4 days Wayanad Treehouse and Waterfalls covers the Edakkal caves, Banasura and the Wayanad trails. Wayanad is reached from Kozhikode, which suits Mumbai well because the Kozhikode flight is the shortest of the three at about one hour forty-five. For a quick taste, the 2 nights and 3 days Wayanad Green Weekend is ideal. Heavy rain shuts the trails and cave climbs, so the Wayanad routes run best between October and May.

Kerala Luxury Tour Package

For the luxury tier we hold the same routes but swap in premium-category resorts and a private houseboat charter. The 5 nights and 6 days Tea Hills, Houseboat and Poovar Island, taking in Munnar, a private houseboat and the island resorts at Poovar. Above that, deluxe, 4-star and premium resort upgrades are quoted per booking, so tell us your preferred category and we will price the exact stays rather than a vague band.

Kerala Group Tour Packages

The same circuits run for larger groups, extended families, friends travelling together or small office trips, with the vehicle sized to the party and a per-head rate that usually drops as the group grows. Group pricing and vehicle type are quoted against your exact numbers and dates.

What's Included in Kerala Tour Packages from Mumbai?

The list below applies to the featured circuits. We spell it out in full because the gap between a headline price and what you actually spend on the ground usually hides in exactly this section.

Included

  • Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing, bed and breakfast plan, meaning room plus daily breakfast.
  • A private air-conditioned vehicle for every transfer and all sightseeing, exactly as the itinerary sets out.
  • An experienced local driver-cum-guide who knows the roads.
  • All fuel, tolls, parking, inter-state permits and driver allowance.
  • Entry tickets and ride charges for everything named in the day-by-day plan, the Periyar Lake cruise and the Kumily spice walk included. Many competitors leave these out and you pay again at each gate.
  • Airport or railway station pickup and drop inside Kerala.
  • The Alleppey houseboat night on full board: welcome drink, lunch, evening tea with snacks, dinner and next-morning breakfast, which is how Alleppey and Kumarakom boats are sold.
  • 24x7 on-ground assistance from the trip2keralam team in Kerala for the length of the trip.

Not Included

Stated plainly, so nothing lands on the bill as a surprise:

  • Air and rail fare between Mumbai and Kerala. We can add Mumbai flights to your quote on request.
  • Lunch and dinner, other than the meals included on the houseboat.
  • Any site, ride or activity not named in the day-by-day plan, including wildlife safaris, bamboo rafting and adventure activities.
  • Ayurveda and spa treatments, camera fees, tips and personal expenses.
  • GST as applicable on tour packages.
  • Anything not listed under inclusions.

Kerala Trip Cost from Mumbai?

Here is how the starting price moves with the length of the trip, from a two-night weekend to a full ten-day tour. All figures are the lowest land-only, per-person rate on twin sharing for that duration, from our current rate sheet as of August 2026, and confirmed against your dates before you book.

Duration Standard price(PP) What it typically covers Best from Mumbai
2N / 3D Rs.3,108 One base, the Munnar hills, an Alleppey houseboat or a beach A long weekend
3N / 4D Rs. 4,134 Two stops, usually hills plus a houseboat, or the southern coast A relaxed first trip
4N / 5D Rs.6,479 Munnar, Thekkady and an Alleppey houseboat (the Kerala Classic is Rs.11,499) Recommended, the full classic circuit
5N / 6D Rs.6,499 The classic circuit with a Fort Kochi night added (Golden Circuit Rs.13,999) An easier pace
6N / 7D Rs.8,499 Hills, spice and backwaters plus a beach at Kovalam Adding the coast
7N / 8D Rs.9,499 The circuit extended with heritage towns or Kanyakumari A wider first tour
8N / 9D Rs.10,999 End to end, hills, backwaters and beaches together A slow, complete trip
9N / 10D Rs.13,499 The length of the state, north to south Seeing all of Kerala

From Mumbai we most often book the shorter half of this table, 2 nights to 5 nights, because the short flight makes it worth it and they fit a normal stretch of leave. The longer tours suit a bigger holiday when you want the whole state rather than the highlights.

Two costs sit on top. Mumbai flights are separate, since every price here is land only, and GST applies at the current slab. To hold a booking we take 50 percent of the package amount, with the balance due before departure or on arrival. Rates move on peak dates, roughly 20 December to 5 January, Onam, Christmas, New Year and long weekends, and we flag that before you pay. Room and meal-plan upgrades, from bed-and-breakfast to half or full board, are re-quoted per booking.

Best Time to Visit Kerala

Season notes for planning. We confirm current conditions when you book, and dates are indicative as of September 2026.
  • September to March: the main season and the window we plan most Mumbai trips into. The weather holds right across the hills, the backwaters and the coast.
  • October to February: the driest, clearest stretch and the easiest for a first Kerala trip, when the Munnar viewpoints hold their view longest.
  • December to January: Munnar turns cold and the skies clear, which most travellers welcome, but this is also the peak-price window from 20 December to 5 January, so book two to three months out.
  • April and May: hot and humid on the coast, and Mumbai school holidays fill family resorts early, so this suits shorter hill trips more than beach ones.
  • June to September: the monsoon. Green, quiet and cheaper, and traditionally the best season for Ayurveda, but some Varkala cliff businesses and Wayanad trails close, and a heavy-rain day can reshuffle a plan.

Top Attractions Covered in Mumbai to Kerala Holiday Packages

What the featured routes actually put in front of you:
  • Munnar: Tea estates at around 1,600 metres, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Top Station, Kundala Lake and the Tata Tea Museum.
  • Thekkady and Periyar: A guided spice plantation walk at Kumily, the Periyar Lake cruise inside the tiger reserve, and an optional Kalaripayattu show.
  • Alleppey backwaters: An overnight houseboat through the Kuttanad canals and Vembanad Lake, with every meal cooked on board.
  • Fort Kochi (on the 5N/6D route): The Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church and Mattancherry Palace in the old port, plus an optional Kathakali evening.
  • Kovalam and Varkala (beach routes): The Arabian Sea, Lighthouse Beach and the Varkala cliff, reached from Trivandrum.
  • Wayanad (north routes): The Edakkal caves, Banasura and the highland trails, reached from Kozhikode.

People Also Asked About Kerala Trip Packages from Mumbai

Is a Kerala trip from Mumbai worth it for just a weekend?

Yes, and this is the main reason we sell short routes from Mumbai that we would not push from further north. The flight is under two hours, so a 2 nights and 3 days Munnar and Alleppey break gives you a tea-hill night and a full houseboat night without eating a week of leave. The one honest catch is a long drive on the middle day, which the 3 nights version fixes.

Which airport should I fly into from Mumbai for a Kerala tour?

For the classic Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey circuit, fly Mumbai to Kochi and back, because the route starts and ends there and Kochi has the most flights, ten to fourteen a day. For a beach trip to Kovalam or Varkala, Trivandrum is closer. For Wayanad and the north, fly into Kozhikode, which is also the shortest hop from Mumbai at about one hour forty-five.

Are flights from Mumbai included in the package price?

No. All our prices are land only, so Mumbai to Kerala airfare is separate. We are happy to add flights so you have one figure, or you book them yourself and we take over from the airport. Nonstop options run on IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air and Air India Express as of September 2026.

How much does a Kerala tour from Mumbai cost?

Land only, per person on twin sharing: from Rs.3,108 for a 2 nights and 3 days route, from Rs.5,962 for the 3 nights and 4 days hills-and-houseboat trip, and from Rs.6,546 for the recommended 4 nights and 5 days Kerala Classic. Mumbai flights and GST are extra. These are current figures as of August 2026 and confirmed against your dates before you pay.

How many days do I need for Kerala from Mumbai?

Because the flight is short, you have more freedom than travellers from the north. Two nights works for a weekend taste, three for a relaxed hills-and-houseboat trip, and four for the full classic circuit with spice country and Periyar added. Beyond five nights you move into slower, wider routes that add beaches or the north.

When is the cheapest time to fly Mumbai to Kerala?

Fares are usually lowest in the June to September monsoon, when Kerala is green and quiet and hotels drop their rates too, though some coastal and trekking spots close. The 20 December to 5 January window is the most expensive on both flights and hotels, so book that two to three months out. For good weather at a fair price, aim for September, early October or February.

Is the Alleppey houseboat an overnight stay, and how does it work?

Yes. This is an overnight on the boat rather than a short day cruise. You board around midday, eat lunch as it pulls away, spend the afternoon on the Kuttanad canals, moor for the night, and step off after breakfast. Every meal on board is included.

Can you customize the trip for a family, a honeymoon or a group?

Yes. Room category and meal plan are left open, so you decide per booking, and we can add nights, upgrade to a private houseboat, swap a hill night for a beach one, or size the vehicle for a group. Send us who is travelling and roughly what you want, and we build the route around it. Send across your travel window, your headcount, and whether the quote should include Mumbai flights. We reply within a working day with a full day-by-day plan and a price, then refine it until it suits you.
