Trivandrum Tour Packages: Prices, Days and Real Itineraries

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Trivandrum tour packages run 3 to 6 days. A short city and Kovalam beach break starts near Rs 4,951 per person (standard tier price), while a six-day trip that adds Munnar, a houseboat and a Poovar island resort reaches about Rs 7,930. Every package here is quoted at its standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers available for the same route. Price moves with nights, hotel category, season and how many destinations you pair with the capital.

Trivandrum is Kerala's capital and the southern gateway to the state. Its own sights, the Padmanabhaswamy temple, the palaces, the museum quarter and one of India's oldest zoos, make a full and comfortable day, rarely more. So every package here pairs that city day with the coast at Kovalam or Poovar, or folds Trivandrum into a longer Kerala route. If you are flying in, Trivandrum International Airport sits about 6 km from the city and 15 km from Kovalam, so you lose almost no time on arrival.

What Do Trivandrum Tour Packages Cost?

Trivandrum packages start at Rs 4,951 per person (standard tier price) for a 2-night city and beach break and reach Rs 7,930 for a 6-day honeymoon trip that ends on a Poovar island. All rates are per person on twin sharing, room with breakfast, land only, as of August 2026.

Prices shown are starting-from rates for the Standard tier and are re-quoted for peak dates (20 December to 5 January, Onam, Christmas and New Year). Every package also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers for the same route, quoted on request. Air and rail fare is not included. Houseboat nights are on full board.

Which Trivandrum Tour Package Is Right for You?

Pick by how many days you have and how far from the capital you want to range. Trivandrum with Kovalam needs two to three nights; adding the backwaters or the Munnar hills needs five or six.

Duration5 packages

We also run Trivandrum inside longer honeymoon and full-circuit routes that end on the southern coast. If none of the four fit, tell us your dates and we build the trip around them.

What Does a Short Trivandrum and Kovalam Itinerary Look Like?

This is the day-by-day for Kovalam Beach Unwind, our recommended short trip: one city heritage morning, one Ayurveda afternoon and free beach time. Two nights, three days, from Rs 4,951 per person (standard tier price).

Day 1: Kovalam and the Arabian Sea

Pickup at Trivandrum airport or Central station, the short drive to Kovalam and check-in, then sunset at Lighthouse Beach. The sun dropping below the Vizhinjam lighthouse, with the fishing boats coming in, is the first thing most people photograph.

Day 2: Trivandrum heritage morning

A city round covering the Padmanabhaswamy temple, the Kuthiramalika Palace Museum and the Napier Museum and zoo campus, then an afternoon Ayurveda massage or a Poovar estuary boat ride. Kuthiramalika, with 122 carved wooden horses along its eaves, is the stop that surprises people.

Day 3: Departure

A relaxed final morning at Hawa Beach or Samudra Beach, then the drop, with no early checkout rush.

One thing we flag before you travel: the Padmanabhaswamy temple restricts entry to Hindus and enforces a strict dress code, a mundu or dhoti for men and a saree or a long skirt and top for women. We brief every guest so nobody is turned away at the gate.

Ready to Lock Your Trivandrum Dates?

Send us your travel dates and group size on WhatsApp or the enquiry form. Our Kerala team calls you, sends the full plan with the exact price, and swaps hotels or nights until it fits. A 50 percent advance holds the rooms and the cab.

Backwaters to Trivandrum, a 5 Day Itinerary Day by Day

This is the day-by-day for Backwaters to Beaches: Alleppey and Kovalam, four nights and five days, from Rs 6,997 per person (standard tier price). It reaches Trivandrum by water and coast, with no ghat roads.

Day 1: Arriving in Alleppey

Kochi pickup, the drive to Alleppey and an evening at Alleppey Beach and the old pier. The 1862 pier, left from the days this was a working port, is worth the walk.

Day 2: Boarding the houseboat at Alleppey

Board the houseboat at Punnamada and cruise Vembanad Lake and Kuttanad, with all meals cooked on board. The boat anchors in a canal for sunset.

Day 3: Disembarking and the drive south

Disembark after breakfast and drive down the coast to Kovalam, with sunset at Lighthouse Beach. Breakfast on the water is the last of the backwaters before you step onto land.

Day 4: Trivandrum heritage morning

A city round covering the Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kuthiramalika Palace and the Napier Museum, then an afternoon Ayurveda massage at a certified Kovalam centre.

Day 5: Departure

A last morning on the beach, then the Trivandrum drop.

Plan a Custom Trivandrum Route

Not every trip fits a fixed package. Tell our on-ground team what you want, the city and its temples, Ponmudi for a hill day, Neyyar for the sanctuary, or a beach finish at Varkala or Poovar, and we build the route and confirm the price in writing before you pay. Message us on WhatsApp to start, or see all our Kerala tour packages.

What Is There to See in Trivandrum City Itself?

The capital's core is a temple, two palaces, a set of museums and a city beach, walkable or a short drive apart. It is about a day of sightseeing, with Ponmudi and Neyyar within reach for a second.

  • The Padmanabhaswamy temple is the anchor, a Dravidian shrine to a reclining Vishnu and one of the richest temples in the world after the treasure found in its vaults.
  • The Kuthiramalika Palace Museum keeps the Travancore royal collection behind those 122 carved horses. The museum quarter around the public park holds the Napier Museum, a 19th-century Indo-Saracenic building cooled by its own design, the Sree Chitra Art Gallery with its Raja Ravi Varma paintings, and the Thiruvananthapuram zoo, one of India's oldest at 1857.
  • Kanakakunnu Palace sits on the same rise. For a break from the city, Shanghumugham Beach runs along the coast near the airport, and the Attukal temple, known for the Attukal Pongala that draws one of the world's largest gatherings of women, is a short drive south.

A Note : We keep optional Ayurveda out of the fixed price on purpose. Kovalam and Poovar have some of Kerala's oldest treatment centres, and a genuine course runs on a doctor's consultation and a set number of days, so we book it to your plan and tell you the real cost rather than pad the headline rate.

Why Book Your Trivandrum Tour Package With trip2keralam

We are a Kerala-based team that runs these routes ourselves, publishes real starting prices, and briefs you honestly on temple rules, seasons and what the capital is actually worth before you travel.

You lose no day on arrival

Trivandrum International Airport, Kerala's oldest, sits 6 km from the city and 15 km from Kovalam. Unlike a hill trip that eats a day getting there, you land and are at the hotel or on the beach inside the hour.

Published per-person prices, not a quote wall

We publish per-person starting rates for every package, as of August 2026, so you can compare before you enquire, instead of filling a form to learn a trip is out of budget. Most Trivandrum listings hide the price behind Request Quote.

We brief the Padmanabhaswamy temple rules before you go

The temple is Hindus-only with a strict dress code, and travellers are turned away at the gate for it every day. We tell you the rule and what to wear at booking, not when you arrive.

We know what the city is worth, and what it is not

Trivandrum is a one-day city, not a week, so we say so and build the coast, the backwaters or a Ponmudi day around it rather than stretch the capital to fill a tab. Honest scope keeps the trip from feeling padded.

One coordinator for the whole trip

Your driver meets you at the airport or station and a single coordinator stays reachable start to finish. If a festival closes a temple road or a resort overbooks, one person fixes it, not a call centre.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Trivandrum?

October to February is the best time for Trivandrum, with dry, mild days for the city and the calmest sea at Kovalam. June to September is the monsoon, cheaper and the traditional Ayurveda season, but rough on the coast.

  • October to February: the best window. Dry, mild days of roughly 20C to 32C, a calm sea and green flags on most beach days. Being peak season, hotels fill fast, so book ahead.
  • March to May: hot and humid, but city sightseeing and morning swims still work, with fewer crowds and lower rates.
  • June to September (monsoon): heavy rain, rough surf and frequent red flags on the coast, so swimming is often restricted. It is the cheapest season and the classic time for an Ayurveda course.
  • If you travel in the rains: keep the plan flexible and carry travel insurance.

(Season notes as of September 2026.)

How Many Days Do You Need in Trivandrum?

Two nights covers the capital and Kovalam: one city heritage morning and one relaxed beach day. Add a third night for Poovar, Ponmudi or Neyyar, and plan five or six days for the backwaters or the Munnar hills too.

The city itself is a comfortable one-day round: the temple, Kuthiramalika, the Napier museum quarter and the zoo, then the coast. Two nights lets you do that day and still get a beach afternoon and an Ayurveda session without rushing. A third night opens up a Poovar boat resort, a Ponmudi hill drive of about 60 km, or the Neyyar sanctuary about 30 km out. Beyond three nights, Trivandrum usually becomes the southern end of a longer Kerala trip: the coast after an Alleppey houseboat, or the finish to a Munnar and backwater route.

How Do You Reach Trivandrum, And How Far Is It from Kochi?

Trivandrum has its own international airport and a major railway station, so most travellers arrive directly. From Kochi airport it is about 200 km and 5 to 5.5 hours by road.

By air, Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) is Kerala's southernmost gateway, 6 km from the city centre and about 15 km from Kovalam, with domestic flights from the metros and international links to the Gulf and the Maldives. By train, Thiruvananthapuram Central (TVC) is the main station, with Kochuveli (KCVL) handling many long-distance trains. By road, the city sits on NH66, about 200 km south of Kochi airport, and roughly 90 km from Kanyakumari over the Tamil Nadu border.

Is Trivandrum Good for a Family or Honeymoon Trip?

Yes to both. Families get the zoo, the museums, a calm-season beach and Poovar's boat resorts; couples get the quiet of Poovar or a Munnar-to-coast honeymoon route with a private houseboat.

Fomilies, the Trivandrum zoo, the science and technology museum and the Kuthiramalika horses keep children busy for the city day, the sea at Kovalam is calm in season, and the boat ride into a Poovar island resort is the part younger kids remember. For honeymooners, our Tea Hills, Houseboat and Poovar Island trip pairs the Munnar hills and a private houseboat with two nights on a Poovar island, with a candlelight dinner and a couple Ayurveda session built in. December and January give the calmest coast, so that window books out early.

  • Our Kerala team calls you, then sends a full day-by-day itinerary with the exact price. You swap hotels, places or nights until it fits.
  • A 50 percent advance confirms the booking and locks the hotels, houseboat and cab, with the balance due before departure or on arrival, paid by bank wire transfer.
  • Your driver meets you at the airport or station, and a coordinator stays reachable through the trip.

Cancellation

  • Changes and cancellations must reach us in writing at least 30 days before check-in, and remain subject to hotel and houseboat availability.

Trivandrum Tour Package FAQs

How many days do you need in Trivandrum?

Two nights is enough for the capital and Kovalam: one city morning covering the Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kuthiramalika Palace, the Napier museum quarter and the zoo, and one relaxed beach day with an Ayurveda session. Add a third night if you want Poovar, the Ponmudi hills or the Neyyar sanctuary. For a full Kerala trip that ends at Trivandrum, plan five to six days.

How much does a Trivandrum tour package cost per person?
Starting rates run from Rs 4,951 per person for a 2-night city and Kovalam break to Rs 7,930 for a 6-day honeymoon trip that adds Munnar, a houseboat and a Poovar island resort, land only and on twin sharing, as of August 2026, all at the standard tier, with Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers quoted higher. Price depends on nights, hotel category, season and how many places you add. Flights and trains are extra.
What is the best time to visit Trivandrum?
October to February is the best window. Days are dry and mild, and the sea at Kovalam is at its calmest, with green flags on most days. March to May is hot but fine for city sightseeing and morning swims. June to September is the monsoon, cheaper and the traditional Ayurveda season, but the surf turns rough and red flags are common.
Can anyone enter the Padmanabhaswamy temple?
Entry is restricted to Hindus, and a strict dress code applies: a mundu or dhoti for men, and a saree or a long skirt and top for women. Phones and cameras are not allowed inside. We brief every guest on the rules and the dress before the visit, so nobody is turned away at the gate. The outer complex can still be seen.
Is Trivandrum worth visiting, or should I just go to Kovalam?
It is worth a day even if the beach is your main plan. The Padmanabhaswamy temple, the Kuthiramalika horses, the Napier museum quarter and one of India's oldest zoos sit close together and make a genuine half to full day. Kovalam is only 15 km away, so most of our trips do both: the city in the morning, the coast for the rest.
How do I reach Trivandrum, and how far is the airport?
Trivandrum has its own international airport, Kerala's southernmost, about 6 km from the city centre and 15 km from Kovalam, with flights from the metros and the Gulf. Thiruvananthapuram Central is the main railway station. From Kochi airport it is about 200 km and 5 to 5.5 hours by road on NH66. Kanyakumari is roughly 90 km south.
Is Trivandrum good for a family trip?
Yes. The zoo, the science and technology museum and the Kuthiramalika Palace fill the city day for children, the sea at Kovalam is calm in season, and the boat ride into a Poovar island resort is a favourite with younger kids. We keep drives short on family trips and can add Ponmudi or the Neyyar sanctuary for a day out.
Can I add Kanyakumari or Ponmudi to a Trivandrum trip?
Yes. Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India, is about 90 km and a 2 to 2.5 hour drive, an easy day trip or overnight; it is in Tamil Nadu, so an inter-state permit applies, which we build into the vehicle cost. Ponmudi, a hill station about 60 km northeast, makes a good day drive if you have a third night to spare.
Is it worth visiting Trivandrum in the monsoon?
It comes down to what you are travelling for. For beach swimming, no: June to September brings rough surf and frequent red flags at Kovalam. For an Ayurveda course, yes: the cool, humid monsoon is the traditional treatment season, hotel rates are lowest, and the city and its temples stay open. If you travel then, we recommend travel insurance and plan around the rain.
What is included in a trip2keralam Trivandrum package?
Every package includes hotels on a room-with-breakfast plan, a private AC car with a local driver, all transfers, sightseeing entry tickets named in the plan, airport or station pickup and drop, and 24x7 support from our Kerala team. Houseboat nights, where included, are on full board. Flights, trains, lunches and dinners, optional Ayurveda and anything not listed are extra.
