Kerala Tour Packages for 8 Days

Govt. of India enlistedLocal Kerala teamFull itinerary before payment

Our Kerala tour packages for 8 days run from Rs. 9,499 to Rs. 9,999 per person for seven nights, the length where you keep the classic Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and houseboat circuit and still add the part a shorter trip cuts: Kanyakumari, the far north, or a second beach.

Seven days gets you cleanly down the state and out at the coast. The drive to Kanyakumari where three seas meet. The laterite fort at Bekal up north. The temple towns around Thrissur. Or a night each at two very different beaches instead of picking one.

There are eight separate 7 nights and 8 days Kerala trip plans here, not one itinerary with a day bolted on. Some keep the familiar Kochi to Kovalam spine and stretch it south. Others leave the tourist trail for the Malabar coast or the waterfall belt. Two are built only for honeymooners, with a private houseboat and a beach at each end.

Every route below is run end to end by our team in Kerala, with the per-person price, where it starts and ends, and who it suits set out before you enquire. Eight days is enough to travel with room to spare. It is still one considered line through the state, not all of it.

7 Nights 8 Days Kerala Tour Packages

A 7 nights 8 days Kerala trip moves into comprehensive territory. Alongside the hills, backwaters, and coast, there's room for somewhere most itineraries skip, Wayanad's forests or a longer look at Fort Kochi. Our on-ground team shapes the route around your interests, not a fixed loop.

What does an extra day over a week actually buy you?

One region a shorter trip has to skip. A seven-day circuit already covers Kochi, the Munnar tea hills, Thekkady and a houseboat, and finishes at the coast. It does that well, and it leaves no slack for a detour. The eighth night is the slack.

Spend it going south and you reach Kanyakumari, the tip of the mainland where three seas meet, without turning the last day into a fourteen-hour round trip. Spend it going north and you reach Bekal and Kannur, the Malabar coast most itineraries never touch. Spend it on the coast and you sleep at two beaches of opposite character instead of driving past one. Spend it inland and you add the temple towns and the arts academy around Thrissur.

The eight routes below split along those choices. Read them for where each one goes and what it asks of you on the road, then pick the line that matches your group rather than the one with the longest list of stops.

The eight 8-day routes, in a little more detail

Best of Kerala: Kochi to Kanyakumari (most popular)

The classic Kerala week with the southern tip added. Fort Kochi on arrival, two nights in Munnar, Thekkady for the spice walk and the Periyar Lake cruise, an Alleppey houseboat night, then two nights at Kovalam so the day trip to Kanyakumari is a day trip and not a marathon. Ends with a Trivandrum drop. From Rs. 9,499 per person.

Kerala Complete Family Circuit

A loop that starts and ends at Kochi, so flight booking stays simple. Athirappilly falls on night two, before the day traffic arrives from Kochi, then Munnar, Thekkady, a Kuttanad houseboat night and a free afternoon at Marari beach. No single drive runs long enough to wear out children or grandparents. From Rs. 9,999 per person.

Backwater and Beach Indulgence: Kumarakom to Kovalam

The route for anyone who dislikes ghat roads or gets carsick on hairpins. There is no hill station on it at all. Kumarakom for the bird sanctuary at first light, a houseboat night through Kuttanad, then three beaches of different character, Marari, Varkala and Kovalam, with an Ayurveda session at Varkala. Every transfer is short and the pace is slow by design. From Rs. 9,999 per person.

Wildlife and Waterfalls: Wayanad to Athirappilly

For families who came for forests and falling water rather than the houseboat. Two nights in Wayanad for the Edakkal caves and Banasura Sagar Dam, two near Athirappilly, then Munnar and a Periyar Lake cruise at Thekkady. One honest note, the Wayanad to Athirappilly leg on Day 3 runs about six hours, so it suits older children more than toddlers. From Rs. 9,499 per person.

Kerala Culture and Heritage Trail

The arts-and-temples route, and the most affordable of the eight. Two Fort Kochi nights covering Mattancherry and Jew Town, then Thrissur and the Kalamandalam arts academy, Guruvayur, the Kalpathy heritage village at Palakkad, two nights in Munnar and an Alleppey houseboat to close. Note that Guruvayur admits only Hindus and enforces a strict dress code, and we brief you before arrival. From Rs. 9,999 per person.

Coast to Coast: the North Malabar route

Bekal Fort and the Valiyaparamba backwaters up in Kasaragod, Kannur for St Angelo Fort, handloom weaving and Theyyam in season, the Beypore boatyards at Kozhikode, two nights in Wayanad and Fort Kochi to finish. Runs Mangalore to Kochi. From Rs. 9,499 per person.

Seven Nights of Kerala Romance

The full circuit is set up for two, with a night at two very different beaches instead of one. Fort Kochi, two nights in Munnar, Thekkady with a couple Ayurveda massage, a private premium houseboat on Vembanad Lake, then quiet Marari and lively Kovalam, one night at each. From Rs. 9,999 per person.

Hills, Backwaters and the Bekal Coast

A honeymoon route that leaves the usual trail for the north. Two nights in Munnar and a private houseboat cover the familiar half, then a Wayanad treehouse or pool villa and Bekal, where a 300-year-old laterite fort curves into the sea. The Day 4 drive to Wayanad runs close to seven hours, and most couples take our overnight Kochi break instead. From Rs. 9,499 per person.

What do these 8-day packages include, and what costs extra?

Every route is quoted land only, on twin sharing with daily breakfast, a private AC vehicle for the whole trip, and the houseboat night on full board where the route has one. Here is the full split, so nothing lands as a surprise at the end.

We spell the exclusions out on purpose. A safari booked on the spot or a temple camera fee is a small cost, but only if you knew about it before you travelled.

Included in the price

  • Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing, room with daily breakfast, the BB or CP plan
  • On routes that have one, an Alleppey or Kumarakom houseboat night on full board: welcome drink, lunch, evening tea with snacks, dinner and next-morning breakfast, all cooked on board
  • A private AC vehicle for every transfer and sightseeing run on the itinerary, not shared and not point to point
  • An experienced local driver cum guide who knows the routes
  • All fuel, tolls, parking, inter-state permits and the driver allowance
  • Airport or railway station pickup and drop
  • Entry tickets and ride charges for everything named in the day-by-day plan
  • On the two honeymoon routes, a private premium houseboat and the listed honeymoon extras, subject to the property policy
  • 24x7 on-ground help from the trip2keralam team in Kerala

Not included

  • Air and rail fare
  • Lunch and dinner on the land nights; only the houseboat night is full board
  • Anything not named in the day plan, including wildlife safaris, bamboo rafting and adventure activities
  • Ayurveda and spa beyond any single session named in your route, camera fees, tips and personal spends
  • GST as applicable on tour packages

A day-by-day look at the classic 8-day route

This is the Kochi to Kanyakumari Grand Tour, the route most first-timers take and the clearest way to picture how eight days actually run. The other seven reshuffle these building blocks. Drive times are approximate and we confirm the exact schedule with your final quote.

Day 1: Fort Kochi, the old port on foot

Pickup at Kochi airport or railway station and check in. The afternoon is a walk through Fort Kochi, the Chinese fishing nets worked by hand at the water edge, St Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was first buried, and the Mattancherry Palace murals, which is shut on Fridays. A Kathakali show in the evening if you want it, paid at the venue.

Overnight in Kochi.

Day 2: Up to Munnar through waterfall country

A morning climb into the hills, roughly four hours, with the Cheeyappara and Valara falls right beside the road on the way up. The afternoon is free at a tea-slope viewpoint above the town.

Overnight in Munnar.

Day 3: A full day in the tea hills

No long drive today. Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Lake and Top Station, with the Tata Tea Museum demonstration of how a green leaf becomes the powder in your cup. This is the second Munnar night a shorter trip gives up, and it is what keeps the hills from feeling like a drive-through.

Overnight in Munnar.

Day 4: Down to Thekkady and the spice country

About three and a half hours to Thekkady, and a plantation walk at Kumily where you crush a fresh cardamom pod in your hand, which is nothing like the shop version. The evening is a Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performance.

Overnight in Thekkady.

Day 5: The Periyar cruise, then onto the houseboat

An early boat cruise on Periyar Lake, when animals are still coming down to the water, then the drive to Alleppey to board your houseboat around midday. Lunch is served as you cast off, the boat moves through the Kuttanad canals, and it anchors for sunset with dinner cooked on board.

Overnight on the houseboat, full board.

Day 6: Off the water and down to the coast

Breakfast on the boat, then disembark and drive south to Kovalam along the coast road, about four hours, in time for sunset at Lighthouse Beach. After six days inland, the sea is the point.

Overnight in Kovalam.

Day 7: The day trip to Kanyakumari

An early start south to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, the southern tip of the mainland where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean meet. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial by ferry, the Thiruvalluvar statue and the confluence, then back to Kovalam for the night. The early start is deliberate. The rock-memorial ferry queue is the bottleneck, and it gets long on weekends and holidays.

Overnight in Kovalam.

Day 8: A Trivandrum morning, then home

A short city round in Trivandrum, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the Napier Museum and the Kuthiramalika Palace with its 122 carved wooden horses along the eaves. Drop at Trivandrum airport or railway station.

Trip ends.

What does an 8-day Kerala trip cost per person?

Our 8 day Kerala package price starts at Rs. 9,499 per person on the Standard tier and climbs with the route and the tier you choose. Every Standard from-price is twin sharing, land only, on room-with-breakfast, as of September 2026 and subject to approval. Every route also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury tiers, and here is how they price on our most-booked route, the Kochi to Kanyakumari Grand Tour:

TierFrom (PP)What you get
StandardRs. 9,499Comfortable hotels and a deluxe houseboat, on bed and breakfast
DeluxeRs. 9,999Upgraded hotels and a better class of houseboat
PremiumRs. 11,999Premium hotels and a premium houseboat, prime rooms
LuxuryRs. 12,999Luxury or boutique stays and a private luxury houseboat

What moves the number: your hotel tier, whether the houseboat is a shared or a private premium one, your meal plan if you go from breakfast-only to half or full board, an extra bed or single supplement, your group size, and the date. Rates step up over the peak run of 20 December to 5 January, and around Onam, Christmas and New Year. Air and rail fare and GST sit outside the package, so add flights and the total rises. We quote the all-in per-person figure before you commit, so the number you see is the number you pay.

When is the best time to visit Kerala?

For an eight-day route that crosses several regions, October to March is the short answer. Here is how the year breaks down so you can weigh weather against crowds and cost:

  • October to March is the window we point almost everyone to. Dry days, cool hill mornings, calm backwaters and easy roads across every region an eight-day route touches.
  • December and early January bring the best weather and the biggest crowds and rates together. Rooms and houseboats fill weeks ahead over the 20 December to 5 January stretch, so book early.
  • February and March stay dry and warm up gently, with thinner crowds and better value before the summer heat.
  • April and May are hot and sticky on the coast and the backwaters, though Munnar and Wayanad hold their cool. A hills-heavy route handles this season better than a beach one.
  • June to September is the southwest monsoon: green, quiet and cheaper, with the waterfalls at Athirappilly and Soochipara at full force. Houseboats still run, but the odd plan shifts for weather and hill viewpoints turn misty.
  • If your route runs north, Theyyam at Kannur falls in the cooler months and follows individual shrine calendars, and the migratory birds at Kumarakom arrive from November to March. We check the exact dates for your trip.

Which airports do you fly into and out of?

Most eight-day routes begin at Cochin International Airport (COK), the busiest in the state and the easiest to reach from the rest of India. The classic and family routes end near Trivandrum (TRV) or loop back to Kochi. The two far-north routes work off Mangalore (IXE), the nearest airport to Bekal, and the Wildlife and Waterfalls route starts at Kozhikode (CCJ).

Where a route ends in a different city from where it starts, we push the open-jaw booking. Fly into one airport and out of the other and your last day is a slow morning, not a long drive back to where you began. A one-way-each ticket usually costs about the same as a return into one airport. We plan the pickup around whichever airports your route uses, and pickup and drop are included at both ends.

Things to know before you book

Houseboat timing

On the routes with a houseboat you board around midday, lunch is the first meal on board, and you step off after breakfast the next morning. The boat anchors for the night rather than cruising in the dark, which is a waterways rule, not a limit of the boat.

Two routes have no houseboat

The North Malabar and the Wildlife and Waterfalls routes are built around forts, forests and waterfalls, so they carry no backwater night. If a houseboat is the reason you are coming, pick one of the other six.

The long drive days

The Backwater and Beach and the Family Circuit routes keep every transfer short. The Wildlife route has a six-hour Day 3, and the northern honeymoon route has a seven-hour run from Alleppey to Wayanad, which we offer to break with a Kochi overnight. If anyone tires on long roads, let that decide your route more than the price does.

Temple entry has rules set by the temple, not by us

Guruvayur on the heritage route admits only Hindus, enforces a strict dress code and bars cameras inside. The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum has its own dress code. We brief you before each stop.

Kanyakumari sits in Tamil Nadu

The Grand Tour crosses the state line for the day trip, so an inter-state permit applies. We build that into the vehicle cost rather than adding it to your bill on the road.

Theyyam is a ritual, not a scheduled show

On the north route we check the local shrine calendar for your dates and tell you honestly whether it is realistic, and we never sell it as a guaranteed inclusion.

What to pack

Light cottons for the coast and backwaters, a layer for cool Munnar and Wayanad evenings, and something modest for temple stops. In the monsoon months, add a rain layer and grippy shoes for wet viewpoints.

Elderly travellers and young children

The Family Circuit and the Backwater and Beach routes, with their short drives, suit them best. Tell us who is travelling and we will steer you to the right one.

Why plan your 8-day Kerala trip with trip2keralam

We are a Kerala-based team, and every trip is run from here, on the ground, not resold from a call centre in another state. Over eight days and several districts, that is the difference between a plan that survives real roads and one that does not.
  • You see the full day-by-day route and the exact per-person price before you pay anything, and we book the trip open-jaw where it saves you a day, even though a return ticket would look tidier on paper.
  • The vehicle is private and stays with you throughout, with a driver who knows which viewpoint clears of cloud by mid-morning and which ghat is being resurfaced this month.
  • The houseboats and hotels are ones we work with directly, so a full-board houseboat means the meals we listed, cooked on board, not a stripped-back version.
  • We flag the catches upfront: the seven-hour northern drive, the entry limits at Guruvayur, whether Theyyam is realistic for your dates. A filtered-out enquiry beats a cancelled trip.
  • Book with a part payment. 50 percent confirms your dates and the balance falls due before departure or on arrival, with inclusions, exclusions and cancellation terms set out in writing before you pay.
  • Someone from our team in Kerala is reachable 24x7 through the trip, working in the same time zone as your holiday.
If eight days is more than your calendar allows, our Kerala tour packages for 7 days cover the same spine with a night less. With a little more room, the 9 day and 10 day Kerala itineraries pair the classic circuit with the far north rather than making you choose between them. For the water on its own, see our Alleppey houseboat packages, and for the hills, our Munnar tour packages.

8 day Kerala packages: your questions answered

Is 8 days enough to see Kerala?

For one considered line through the state plus one region a shorter trip skips, yes. Eight days holds the classic Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and houseboat circuit and still has room for Kanyakumari, the far north, or a second beach. It is not enough to cover the whole state top to bottom, which is closer to a two-week trip.

Which 8-day Kerala route is best for a first visit?
The Kochi to Kanyakumari Grand Tour, from Rs. 9,499 per person. It runs the recognisable version of Kerala, Fort Kochi, the Munnar tea hills, Thekkady spice country and an Alleppey houseboat, then adds two Kovalam nights and a day at Kanyakumari, the southern tip. It covers the most ground with the least backtracking.
How much does an 8-day Kerala trip cost per person?

Our eight-day packages run from Rs. 9,499 to Rs. 9,999 per person on the Standard tier, twin sharing, land only, with daily breakfast, as of September 2026. The routes cluster closely on that tier, so the bigger lever is the tier you pick, since every route also comes in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury. Hotel tier, houseboat category, meal plan and travel dates move the final figure.

Can you include Kanyakumari in a Kerala tour?
Yes. The Grand Tour spends Day 7 on a day trip to Kanyakumari from Kovalam, covering the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the Thiruvalluvar statue and the three-seas confluence. Kanyakumari is in Tamil Nadu, so an inter-state permit applies, and we build that into the vehicle cost rather than adding it to your bill on the road.
Is there an 8-day Kerala route with no hill or ghat roads?
Yes, the Backwater and Beach Indulgence route from Kumarakom to Kovalam. It has no hill station and no ghat section anywhere, which is exactly why we built it. If ghat roads make anyone in your group carsick, this is the one to pick. Transfers are short and the pace is slow by design.
Which airports should we fly into and out of for 8 days?
It depends on the route. Most start at Kochi (COK); the classic routes end near Trivandrum (TRV), so an open-jaw ticket saves a day of driving back north. The two far-north routes use Mangalore (IXE), and the Wildlife and Waterfalls route starts at Kozhikode (CCJ). We tell you the exact start and end airport for the route you choose.
Do all the 8-day packages include a houseboat night?
Most do, on the Alleppey or Kumarakom backwaters, on full board. Two do not, by design. The North Malabar route and the Wildlife and Waterfalls route are built around forts, forests and waterfalls rather than the backwaters, so they carry no houseboat. Each route says clearly whether a houseboat night is in it.
Is 8 days good for a Kerala honeymoon?
It is one of the better lengths for it. Two of our eight routes are built for couples, with a private premium houseboat, candlelight dinners and an optional couple Ayurveda session. One keeps the classic circuit and adds a night each at Marari and Kovalam beaches. The other heads north to a Wayanad treehouse and Bekal, for photographs that do not look like everyone else.

Plan your 8 days in Kerala with our team

Eight days is enough to see Kerala properly and still add the part most itineraries leave off, as long as the route is built around your dates rather than pulled off a shelf. Tell us when you are travelling and who is coming, and our team in Kerala will put the plan together, hotels, houseboat, vehicle and route, with a firm per-person quote before you commit.

Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp or by email, and we will send back an eight-day route and price the same day.
