About this itinerary

This 5 nights and 6 days package covers Fort Kochi, Athirappilly, Munnar and Alleppey, based on a Kochi heritage night, a riverside night at Athirappilly, two nights in Munnar and a full houseboat night through Kuttanad. Day 1 is the Fort Kochi and Mattancherry walk, Day 2 drives to Athirappilly for the falls and a riverside overnight, Day 3 takes in Charpa falls before the drive to Munnar, Day 4 is a full Munnar sightseeing day, Day 5 descends to Alleppey and boards the houseboat, and Day 6 disembarks after breakfast for the drive to Kochi.

The loop opens and closes at Kochi, so flights stay simple. Access to the base of Athirappilly is closed by the forest department when the river is running high, typically June to August, so we build in flexibility rather than promise a walk the water level may not allow; the top viewpoint stays open, and the falls are at their most impressive in spate anyway.

Questions about this package

What does the Kochi, Athirappilly, Munnar and Alleppey Nature Loop cover?

A Fort Kochi heritage night, a riverside night at Athirappilly for Kerala's largest waterfall, two nights in the Munnar tea hills with a full sightseeing day, and a houseboat night through the Kuttanad canals, opening and closing at Kochi. Hotel stays are on bed and breakfast, the houseboat night is on full board, and a private AC vehicle covers all transfers and sightseeing.

What is included in the price?

Hotel or resort stay on twin sharing with daily breakfast, the houseboat night on full board, a private AC vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing, all fuel, toll, parking, permits and driver allowance, airport or railway station pickup and drop, entry tickets and ride charges for everything named in the day-by-day itinerary including the Fort Kochi sights and the Kathakali show, and 24x7 on-ground assistance from our team in Kerala.

Can we walk down to the base of Athirappilly falls?

Only when the forest department allows it. Access to the base is closed when the Chalakudy river is running high, typically June to August, and that call is made locally on the day. We plan for the possibility rather than promise the walk. The top viewpoint stays open, and when the river is in spate that is when the falls are at their most impressive anyway.

Why stay overnight at Athirappilly instead of doing it as a day trip from Kochi?

Because of when you get there. Athirappilly is a popular day trip and buses and cars start arriving mid-morning from Kochi and Thrissur. Staying by the river means you are at the falls early, with Charpa and Thumboormuzhi to yourself on Day 3 before the drive up to Munnar.

What meals do we get on the houseboat?

Full board. Welcome drink, lunch, evening tea with snacks, dinner and next-morning breakfast, all cooked on board. That is standard practice on Alleppey and Kumarakom houseboats. On the other nights you are on BB (CP), which is room plus daily breakfast.

Is the Kathakali show included on Day 1?

Yes. Entry tickets and ride charges for everything named in the day-by-day itinerary are inside the price, and the evening Kathakali show is named on Day 1. Most theatres open the hall an hour before the performance so you can watch the make-up being applied, which is worth arriving for.

How do I book, and can I cancel?

50% of the package amount confirms the booking, and the balance is due before departure or on arrival. Payment is by bank wire transfer to our account. Dates may be changed, shortened or cancelled with 30 days written notice, subject to availability. No refund is given for cancellations inside the 30-day window before travel.
